Charles Krauthammer is Paralyzed from the Neck Down -- But Very Few People Know It

Charles Krauthammer is a conservative commentator on FOX and a contributor to conservative publications.

He is also a quadraplegic, a fact known to only a few since it is never mentioned on FOX.

Because, you see, conservatives don't treat handicapped people, women, or minorities like animals in a zoo.

If Krauthammer was a liberal, you can be sure we would all be reminded constantly of his handicap and it would be thrust in our face. He would harp on it as much as John Kerry harped about his military service in Vietnam.

But because he is conservative, he does not try to get special privileges or sympathy. He is treated just like anybody else.

And that is why conservatives are more advanced in our relations with handicapped, women and minorities.

We will treat you like an equal. We will listen to you as an equal. We will give you an equal shot.

If that's not what you want, run to the Democrats and they will kiss your ass and give you all sorts of special privileges and extra goodies in your goody bag.

But Democrats won't give you respect, because you can't respect someone you are patronizing.

Out of Respect for his Dignity, this subject should not have been brought up until after his death, and then only a limited, admiration for his overcoming obsticales, and still providing profound contribution venue.

Some people are very self reliant and have mountains of inner strength by which they overcome hurdles. Others have less. Still others have little or no inner capacity for overcoming their situation - hence suicides, depression, complete dependency on others' care, etc. It's a spectrum of need and as such, both the Left and the Right should refrain from rushing out on their own particular irrational extreme by enacting policies that would either deny some people help that need it on the one hand, or unnecessarily promote dependency on the other. This is yet another example where any rational approach to a situation is traded in for Left/Right polar gobbledegook.

 

Krauthammer's unfortunate paralysis from the neck down is general knowledge, from the neck up less a matter of consensus.

Read up - we've been there, done that. Nevertheless, your post does point out something interesting. There is so much animosity these days between the political antagonists that even a mistake is labeled a blatant lie.

It gotten so bad that if I were to post that 2+4 = 11, I have little doubt that most at this forum that hated me for whatever, would actually think I was lying. A few would think I was mistaken. And probably none would assume I was merely operating in the base 5 number system. Nor would they believe it if I told them that was the case. He may very well be a quadriplegic, but that does not mean he can not move his arms and hands. The medical definition of quadriplegia.

I never knew. However, I see no reason to treat him as different. I have the utmost respect for Krauthammer as a reasonable conservative journalist, alongside George Will and David Brooks, particularly on foreign policy. By the way, Krauthammer is also a contributor to The Washington Post.

 

I read he has use of his hands, but he definitely is paralyzed from a diving accident, life must be hard for him even if he won any lawsuits against the school where this happened, money can make life easier, but as can be seen, it can't always cure you, I commend him for making the most of his life and not giving up, takes a special kinda person to do that
