"For much of the nation’s history, disease was the No. 1 killer of children. Then America became the land of the automobile, and by the 1960s, motor-vehicle crashes were the most common way for children to die. Twenty years ago, well after the advent of the seatbelt, an American child was still three times as likely to die in a car accident as to be killed by a firearm. We’re now living in the era of the gun." https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/12/14/magazine/gun-violence-children-data-statistics.html This is very disturbing. It doesn't have to be this way. Guns have very little utility in the modern world but somehow they've become the leading cause of children dying in a developed country.
golf clubs have very little utility to me nor do pointe shoes since I dislike golf and I have no desire to do ballet. That a socialist rag like the NY times doesn't like guns means nothing to me. One of the main reasons for owning guns is a prophylactic against the control freaks that would try to prevent you from owning them Many of the "children" listed in those propaganda pieces are often young gangbangers-often the same age as the average infantry private in Viet Nam.
How do the guns know they are in a "developed country"? Are there places where murder is higher in spite of civilian gun ownership being illegal? Yes, but they lack the infrastructure to be considered "developed" so these numbers are omitted. This is being used as a political tool to boost support for gun laws. Few will ever look at more than your graph/meme.
No surprise; 2020 was the height of COVID panic - far fewer cars on the road, ergo fewer accidents, ergo fewer traffic deaths. I'd be more disturbed by the sudden growth in drug overdoses.
~ More kids and young adults are currently dead from Fentanyl coming into the USA from an unchecked Mexico border. Myocarditis in young adults after mRNA injection is another "new" morbidity. Priorities ... ' "More Guns — Less Crime " ~ John Lott Author/ Statistician
That’s a heap of money in inducements to government people. Aren’t there rules such as the emoluments clause (which Trump ignored) forbidding these payments?
lots of people who tell me I don't need something are projecting their own "needs" or wants. So when someone who soils himself at the thought of shooting an AR 15 or carrying a Glock 17, and tells me I don't need either, I find that argument pathetically stupid
I don't see most of the defensive uses listed there either in the case of private citizens or police officers. I have used a firearm at least four times to stop either a break in of my residence or an attack upon my person and in only one case did I shoot someone. So at least 75% of the cases where I did USE a firearm to STOP criminal activity, no shot was fired. the only injury may have been to the undergarments of one mope that I stuck a pistol in his face after he tried to pry open my apartment door with a screw driver
what a disgusting claim. I wonder how many NRA members have committed murders with firearms-vs say Democrats or NAACP members? Anyone who thinks passing Democrat gun bans is going to stop mass shootings probably believes that banning crack or heroin stops drug overdoses
Being part of the solution means opposing the gun grabber movement completely since that movement enables violent criminals while wasting law enforcement resources
You included a link to a website that you have to pay a subscription for. But I've seen this data and it includes people that are 18 and 19 years old as children and by no other estimation that we use are these people children. With the major cities having prosecutors that no prosecute or old people it seems to permit a lot more violence. Maybe this is designed to try and fabricate concept that guns are responsible for violence. It wouldn't be the first time someone pulled such dishonesty fast and furious rings a bell. So yeah we see an increase in violence and the statistic including children was stretched to include the age group that are the most violent so it's just dishonest statistics. You should know better than to fall for this
Well I've never been part of the problem I've owned guns for decades and never shot anybody. Owning guns isn't part of the problem the problem is not prosecuting criminals
All the more reason to have more firearms. The police are less and less capable of doing anything to stop criminal behavior so required to do it myself
~ ' More Guns —Less Crime.' Statistics show this. When everyone is equally equipped to defend themselves the armed assailant no longer has as much advantage.
