Huh? Do words mean anything to you? PERMITTING something is not the same as PROMOTING something else.

Trust me, you could offer million-dollar cash rewards for being homosexual, and you could not increase homosexuality at all. It's not a choice, and can't be promoted. It can be accepted, at least by non-bigots.

Such witty repartee. And I dont have a problem with same sex marriage, other than its pointless government involvement where government involvement isnt needed, but that never stopped them before from getting involved. I have a problem with "gay marriage". Nothing special about being gay that would justify such preferential treatment.

Permitting something doesnt involve respect and dignity. And no one stops them from marrying each other. The government simply doesnt license and regulate the relationship

Of course it does. If denying it undermines respect and dignity, permitting it allows respect and dignity. Are you seriously going to argue that everything NOT illegal is being "promoted"? Seriously?

    Oh, grow up.

And in your two quotes above, you prove that you just play word games and that your comments are dishonest. It's all you and the other anti-SSM folks have left.

It's promoting respect and dignity. You can't promote homosexuality any more than you can promote brown eyes.

    There isn't any preferential treatment.

Without the license there isn't a marriage.

There are no laws that make gay marriage illegal. You wont find any law that as much as even mentions sexual orientation. Getting married without a license isnt illegal.

You mean it doesnt promote engaging in homosexuality. I never claimed it did, although it likely does. Promoting respect and dignity for gays is promoting homosexuality

Of course it is. Its preferential treatment for those whose marriages are licensed and regulated by the government, over those who are excluded by law.

Yep. Now, how about recognizing the obvious and looking intelligent for a change?

And so, by implication (which you will deny), if we refuse to give homosexuals respect and dignity, they'll just become straight because it'll be easier.

Sorry, homosexuality cannot be promoted. Same-sex marriage can be promoted, but not homosexuality. Homosexuality is not something someone engages in, it's something someone IS.

Now, if everyone is given the same equal rights, it would be hard to identify which of those enjoying the equal rights are getting "preferential treatment" and which are just getting "ordinary treatment." Granting the same rights to group A as enjoyed by group B, isn't giving preferential treatment to either group.

AHA! After careful reading, I think I understand the word game better. Dixon thinks homosexuality is an event, not a condition. He's like sec, in thinking that if you don't do homosexual sex, you can't be a homosexual. How many times has sec evaded the question of the homosexual virgin? The concept simply cannot fit into his misrepresentation.

One doesn't "engage in" homosexual anymore than one "engages in" tall, or fat, or old. Dixon simply cannot grasp this.

You can't get married without a license. You can have a ceremony without a license.

No it isn't. It's equal treatment, not preferential.

I think some people still labor under the notion that homosexuals are made and not born. Seems to be folly.

"Gay marriage" is about extending marriage only to gay couples, while others are still excluded by law. UNequal by design. If marriage was extended to any two consenting adults, it wouldnt promote respect and dignity for gays to the same extent.

Giving a couple the same rights as another couple is equal, not unequal.

Not while other couples are still excluded. UNEQUAL by design.

Yes, even if other couples are still excluded. If I have 2 apples, and I give you 2 apples we have an equal amount of apples. That I did t give your neighbor any changes nothing.

In creating them I agree. But you don't know what it means and don't apply it properly.

It's about making marriage more inclusive. Something that should not be denied without a compelling reason. You have never presented any reason at all.

Of course it would. You sound like a page straight out of Orwell - equality is unequal. Granting rights doesn't grant rights, promoting respect doesn't promote respect.

    Are you feeling OK?
