Last night, I listened to John Batchelor of WABC radio station, New York and heard about Chinese companies and state-of-the-art batteries, especially those utilized for the military. America is far more advanced than China with certain products and R&D, and, of course natural resources and rare metals, so the Chinese Communists are trying to catch up by buying, investing, or stealing (through spies and pro-China supporters).

Whenever I post something about China and Communists, a few readers in Taiwan, even China click onto the blog. Keywords. Etc.

Of course, they will say they're just car batteries because of energy and to lessen the smog problem.

Why is China interested in U.S. battery maker?

The high-technology — research and development — saves China time and leads to...

"China’s purchase of a United States high-technology battery maker will boost Beijing’s military forces and satellites and threaten the security of U.S. electrical power and communications grids, according former national security officials.

The Obama administration is currently reviewing the sale of the bankrupt U.S. company A123, which received an estimated $250 million in taxpayer funding for research, to China’s Wanxiang Group, a company with ties to China’s government."

there are alot things that can be used for dual purpose, battery is one example. however, if we decide not to sell them high tech commercial product then don't complain about trade deficit. the only thing china interest in are products that they can't make or in short supply, one on the list is high quality products. obviouslly they are not gonna import ipad, or other similar things from us, so what else we can sell them other than farm goods, maybe resource etc.

I have no problem with the Chinese purchasing American technology and tech companies in order to improve their military capabilities. Why should any American have a problem with China becoming really strong?

China is catching up. Twenty years ago, China's GDP was about 1/8 of American GDP. Now China's GDP is probably half of American GDP.
