China issues travel warning for tourists going to the US .....

China has issued a safety warning to its citizens travelling to the United States amid rising tensions between the sides over accusations of unfair trading practices and other disputes.

The warning issued late last week and posted on the Website of the Chinese Embassy in Washington touches on issues from the high cost of medical treatment in the U.S. to the importance of guarding against crime and terrorist attacks and the powers wielded by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

In Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said Tuesday that China's government was merely fulfilling its duty to warn travellers of "potential dangers."....snip~

Ahahahahaha…..Trump hit China with tariffs. China retaliates with the same cost. Trump then turns around and hits China with 200 billion. China didn't come back with a 200 Billion retaliation. Now they issue a Travel warning.

So you can join the huge crowd of other businesses who cannot sell their stuff in china, unless it is scrap metal. China keeps out what few things we make by tariffs or non tariff trade barriers.

Hmm, well I disagree they were "playing" the victim card when Japan invaded Manchuria. They were absolutely victims and needed help from a terribly destructive nation.

I gotta be honest, do you really think china was PLAYING the victim? I just think it's pretty crazy that this comparison would be made when you look at things like Nanking that were absolutely horrible.

Trump isn't playing with an Equal field. China never had an equal field. That is why all the experts state. China cannot win a trade war against the US. Even leftist economists have had to admit that reality.

 

It's been fascinating to watch, they are now basically equal to their currency rate before they started allowing their currency to float a little more realistically.

I still just don't trust the Chinese government to allow a floating capitalistic system, if you look at their currency it is still far too flat compared to other free tradable currencies. As I said above, it actually dropped below the .145 Y/$ that it was historically at.

 

I think that is a stretch, Japan killed upwards of around 10 million people and to think China would immediately "cleanse" their hatred of a nation that did that is kinda silly.

From what I can see, China has almost always believed in the strong arm tactics and the ability to turn inward and "suffer" any amount of pain another country would/could put on them.

Whether or not Japan had the manpower to take over the whole country doesn't clear them from being a victim.

As to your second point, I never argued nor would ever try to argue that. China is absolutely a nation that manipulates their economy to take advantage of the world, it has been proven and is beyond dispute.

Yup, exactly what I was talking about, every time it corrects like the rest of the world, China manipulates the CRAP out of it. So absolutely insanely silly that China would claim the US is attacking them fiscally after what they have pulled off for generations.

What is unspoken here is the horrific truth that China will absolutely let their people suffer even to the point of famine. You won't see it reported on government controlled news or on government controlled internet and they will deny it to the rest of the world despite the verified reports and video that will doubtless leak out but it will happen.

I saw firsthand what happened to the workers who built the facilities for the Beijing Olympics. They were not allowed to apply for work in the city because they were imported from other regions, yet they had no money to return to their home. So when the Olympics were over and their services were no longer needed, anyone whose families could not get them home ended up in tent cities outside of town indefinitely and many of them starved or froze to death.

Yes, that happened. This is the country that some here see as a viable alternative to the U.S. as a world power.

yuan dropping means its cheaper for them to export and harder for them to import US product, so basically they put 25% tariff and due to weaken yuan, its basically additional tariff.

 

its not 1970s anymore, their CCP legitimacy on the line, especially the tariff is against US, not against the world, they can sub many farm products from S.america, japan, russia, EU, aussie etc. same with energy.
