    Scum like this deserve to be tortured in the most horrific ways imaginable and only killed when they are on their knees begging for death....

    Lucky for them I do no believe in torture...

    What double standard? Not all muslims go around blowing up buildings. I don't blame all Christians for these peoples' actions, so don't try and turn this into a "All muslims are terrorists" rant...

    Apart from this very disturbing individual tragedy, what is also disconcerting is the popularity this book which misguidedly advocates child abuse under the name of education.

    It's hard to believe just how backwards parts of the US are.

    My guess is they will probably do some jail time, but not nearly enough. Also, their remaining kids will become wards of the state or shuffled through foster care -- which is really a terrible fate, especially for the older ones.

    These are vile, vile people -- but so is the guy who wrote this ridiculous book. He has to know that most of his readers will be weak-minded simpletons open to suggestion... so sad.

    I'm surprised also that none of the section regulars have come around to defend the indefensible.

    One of the few times I've agreed with you on this particular part of the forum.

    The only one to blame is those parents. Nothing in the Bible says anything about using plumbing tools and cold water showers to discipline your children.

    Actually, my research (from the Pearl's own website is that 650,000 copies in English have been sold.) No numbers on foreign languages, but millions is a great overestimate. A million, maybe.
