Source: NJ.com He did offer comment 4 days ago: Source: Courier Post Online Apparently, this is the third funeral missed for an NJ officer lost while on the job. I'm on the fence regarding my thoughts on missed funerals by elected officials. I'd like to care, but the cynic in me only sees the move as expected gesture vs. a genuine concern. I know a lot of members here disagree with me (judged by the comments regarding President Obama not being present for the funerals of Justice Scalia & Former First Lady Nancy Reagan), but do you really care? Are you actually pissed? Or is it a chance to slight the politician you don't like/agree with? Aren't you now preparing your "Maybe he took his cue from the President" comment?
Governors don't go to every fallen cop's funeral anywhere. Depends on the location. A cop in Boca Raton Florida dying doesn't get the FL governor out of Tallahassee..... I think it's one of those things that would be nice if he was able to any time it happened.... I would say the EXACT SAME THING if this was a democrat governor missing a fallen cop's funeral
I believe that many make a distinction where an officer is murdered in the line of duty vs something such as this. I would prefer that any Governor attend these, but I do see a distinction.
attending a funeral for a New Jersey State Trooper that was killed in a car crash not a shoot out is not going to turn the events around in the future to help America trump is, and is more important to us all at this time frame.
Playing devil's advocate, what does a failed Presidential candidate like Gov. Christie have to meaningfully contribute to Trump's campaign? I'd wager just about as much, if not less, than attending this young trooper's funeral.
playing devil's advocate says, just because he failed this time... doesn't mean he can't set himself up for a later run. See Richard Nixon, See Donald Trump He may also be trying to get the nod for the Veep position with Trump, or some other position like sec of state....
