The only thing I find not credible in this article is the claim that Obama stopped this in 2009. Bull. The CIA has always been an agency founded on torture, murder, and terror. At no time in its history has it ever had a shred of respect for human rights. So I guess Obama shook his finger in mock dismay, and said, "Okay guys, time to stop torturing people but not really, just do a better job of making sure no one knows about it, at least until I'm not President anymore."

The only solution is to disband the CIA and turn the perpetrators (including most of our politicians) over to the ICC for trial.

You might be interested in the documentary Dirty Wars. According to this documentary, the US has covert operations going on in over 75 countries ran by the Special Operations Group (SOG) which answers only to the president.

I have that one queued up to watch, actually. Today might be the day. Although what good it will do I don't know, except to (*)(*)(*)(*) me off. Most Americans wouldn't care if the CIA tortured babies to death on the White House lawn and streamed it 24/7. Or they might care, but they'd find an excuse not to do anything about it. Meanwhile the ICC is a useless, toothless mess. I better hold off watching it for another day. Today is one of those pro-extinction days for me. I'm quite sure the universe would be a better place without our entire species.

That was a good documentary, thanks for pointing me toward it. I knew Obama didn't care about human rights. He's as much of a war criminal as Bush. This confirms it. But I'm slightly less depressed about it all at the same time. At least there are some journalists with guts and integrity doing more than gobbling up press releases.

At least there are a few people who were on the inside and saw it and who aren't all without morality or human feeling. At least there are some who know how wrong it is and leak information to try to change it. A pity our politicians aren't among those with integrity, morality, and human feeling. How do we keep electing psychopaths to run our country? What is wrong with us?

What I find amazing is the hate Bush received for his actions yet not one bit of outcry against what Obama is doing. I believe what our president(s) are doing is based on fear. The presidential kill list is only getting longer.

It's the Red vs Blue mentality. Too many Americans view politics as team sports where they must root for one of two teams instead of viewing politics as our duty and the proof of our morality or immorality as a society.

The CIA acts on behalf of the President. It's his private army.

Unless they killed Kennedy, in which case, it's the other way around.

I have no firm opinion on whether they did or not, I just find it interesting that a fairly large percentage of Americans believe they did assassinate him and yet do nothing about it. So much for freedom rings.

Party rooters are only enabling our government to commit atrocities against humanity. I believe most party rooters don't see their actions leading to a morally corrupt nation the likes that brought the Nazi's down. The destroyed out of pride. We are destroying our of fear. I'm not sure which is worse.

I've been trying to get Americans interested in changing things for over two decades. The sad conclusion I must draw is that our people are steeped in willful ignorance fueled by fear of the consequences of acting out effectively to bring about actual change. They're terrified, while they pretend to think they're free and living in a Democratic Republic.

This is pretty much the same insincere lip-service we got when we discovered the vast extent of his NSA crimes, and that our "neighbours and friends" as Obama put it, were violating the fourth Amendment billions upon billions of times per day.

You are completely right about all this.. The CIA were never prosecuted for anything, not even one of their agents, even after they tortured innocent people to death (it's not just waterboarding). So obviously they must have had a reason, why would they have stopped?

We already know that Obama himself is to this day, right now, torturing his hostages in Guantanamo, who are uncharged but he STILL won't release, while making up absurd excuses why he won't.

Actually, I hope it's not. I hope I'm being pessimistic.

I like that theory better. It's slightly less terrifying. Even though the mob and the FBI have been known to consort. Frequently.

Well, to be fair, some CIA agents have been punished. They're called whistleblowers. My government sickens me.
