The brave young man "Tom" was a good man, ultimately martyred, beaten to death by a cruel master (Simon Legree) because he refused to betray the whereabouts of two women who he had assisted in escaping from slavery.

He was repeatedly offered his life if he would give them up, and instead he laid down his life to keep them safe.

 

I am not concerned that you think me being critical of a black man is racism.

He is a man of poor moral character, who hasn't contributed anything to the cause of civl rights. He has benefited from the work of the civl rights movement without contributing to it.

It is also clear to me that he does not respect women, I am old enough to remember the confirmation hearings.

I remember the confirmation hearings too and it was always apparent that like the Kavanaugh hearings, those charges were as manufactured as they could have been. Literally, a congressional lynching.
