After reading about the water in Jackson I thought about Flint Michigan. I personally feel shame that we haven't got this done yet! It started in 2014 for God's sake'

Heck Jackson doesn't have water period at this point now that flooding has taken out their booster pumps to add insult to injury. The reality is that these projects can take decades to complete and require a lot of planning and money. Too many state and local governments will let it get this bad so they don't have to pay for it. Even in Jackson, the state is having to guarantee payments if the locals fail to do so just to get the waterworks restaffed.

My city started down this road a long time ago and I will be old before they finish replacing all the water, gas and sewage lines. They just did two streets in the neighborhood next to mine and it took them about a year to complete it (but they weren't out there every day) of the work week.

Well Flint's water system I'm not familiar enough with Jackson's to comment on it seem to become problematic when they took an additive out of the water. When you have lead plumbing you put an additive in the water so that lead isn't leached out of the water and put into the tap. So good person you need to blame is who decided to take this additive out and maybe put it back in.

Especially since it seems to be rather easy. Return the additive and prosecute the people that removed it.

What’s”US AID TO CHINA”? You link is to something that happened back in the 1940s

So let’s look at something a little more current

    https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/us-foreign-aid-by-country

Hmmm interesting - where is China on that list?
I have no issues whatsoever with USA spending money at home but I have been listening to the commentary on this and if I were a resident of Jackson I would be voting everyone out.

Look I live in a country of “droughts and flooding rains” historically THAT is our climate pattern here and if our Politicians had let this go on for this long I can guarantee we would be lined up around the city ready to kick but until it was fixed,

THIS is what partisan politics has done to your country “my side is right and it cannot be wrong” means that politicians become complacent and a complacent politician secure in their own future has time to

    4. Grift
    5. Pander to corporate interests

    7. Make up faux “culture wars” to distract from the failing infrastructure
    8. Grift
    9. Play to a minority base that actually vote
    10. Grift
    11. Put in place mechanisms to keep him/her in office
    12. Grift
It does not matter which side is doing the above, when they do THEN it is time to kick arse. The most powerful person you can be is a “swing voter”

Instead of feeling shame for something you had no part in, consider the following...

In not so much time after our species has departed the planet, the Earth will do what it always does - renew itself by getting rid of any traces of our existence and the water will returned to its pristine state once again [you have to have a long-term view of these things].

On the plus side, Mayor Lumumba has successfully decolonized the water supply.

Sure but I can't fix it personally and can't afford to pay someone else to do it. The responsibility resides with the City of Flint.
