I get sooo much satisfaction after I finish cleaning my little apartment. I don't know what it is about being in a nice and tidy home but I just love it. I am such a slob though so my place is always a disaster and then when I have a day off and clean all the junk up, vacuum the carpets, sweep the bathroom, clean the stinky cat box, make the bed, do ALL the dishes, do the laundry and sit down and have a nice little lunch after it all...I dunno, it's just the most satisfying thing ever. I even open the windows and let some fresh air in and light a little incense and just sit down and relax after it all. It's so nice.

Does anyone else get this much satisfaction from cleaning house? lol

Yes. I have always kept a very clean house. In fact, my siblings used to call me anul so I just blamed it on mom...lol.

My mother is Japanese so the first rule of thumb is to take off your shoes before entering the house. We still do it to this day.

The second rule when I was young was we had our own recreation room. We weren't allowed in the "Grown ups" living room. My mom worked and kept up a beautiful and clean house along with a husband and 4 children.

My two brothers grew up to be terrible housekeepers, non domestic in every way. My sister and I were very good housekeepers. I was the oldest of 4 kids so I was expected to keep them in line..haha.

It just feels natural for me to keep things tidy and have clean carpets. I don't like dishes in the sink and a dirty bathroom.

Now that I live alone it's time to relax a bit. I don't have to work so hard so I dust and vacuum once a week.

I still do the dishes daily and take my own shoes off.

To this day when I know my mother is coming over, I clean my house for her. I don't know for the life of me why I need to impress her. She is 81 and laid back now.

My Mother taught me cleaning. When I was growing up Saturday was chore day. After the chore was done my Mother would inspect and if it didn't measure up it was done again and again till she was satisfied. My son accused me of doing the same thing when he would help me with the cleaning. Satisfaction of a job well done.

How funny, when I was growing up we had a 'play room' where we had to keep all our toys. It as always a mess and I remember when my mother would tell us to clean it up and it just seemed so overwhelming. lol But it was her way of keeping the rest of the house neat and tidy.

She's probably very proud every time she sees what a beautiful home you keep. =)

Oh tell me about it. Cleaning out the junk drawer and the closet is great. Love getting rid/donating unused stuff and making more room!

I have a similar feeling when I clean. Most often, I just straighten things up. When I actually clean a room I feel so accomplished...

Yes and I try to keep it that way because before I clean I really don't want to do it.
