Oh! lols! They reference the U.S Senate Minority report! 2008! Oh! How Cute! I guess they figure it has been long enough that the stink from all the corruption, lies and scandal has died down. Ah! But I do not miss Jim Inhofe and Marc Moreno at all and especially the scientists Moreno tried to bully do not miss him - especially not his habit of “doxing” scientists

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Morano

The Galileo Movement dates to 2011. And the web page talks about them bringing out Lord Monckton - I remember that because he was humiliated by Aussie journalists who caught him in lie after lie - this was back in 2010!

    https://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/Galileo_Movement

Alan Jones! I think the most disgraceful of all of that lot! Jones has zero cred here

Truth is that denialism is waning and fewer and fewer people are buying into the lies and hyperbole funded by the fossil fuel industry. We can see climate change happening and no references to decades old twaddle will move the Australian public again

Your post is not of interest because you have dodged the topic and instead indulged in personal vituperation that is the opposite of intellectual engagement.

I'm not sure how you can equate dodging and ducking with wiping the floor.

Oh, what a surprise: William Connolley's personal anti-fossil-fuel hate propaganda blog baldly lies about Morano while accusing him of misinformation.
Right: denial that solar variation is the major driver of climate change on the decadal to millennial time scales is waning
Anti-fossil-fuel hysteria mongers accusing climate realists of lies and hyperbole? How... inevitable.
We can see it is not happening as anti-fossil fuel hysteria mongers have claimed it would, not even close.
The indisputable facts of objective physical reality will move them. It's just a matter of how long it takes.

What was there to address? It was an opinion piece quoting out of date discredited sources

Mental gymnastics of the truly faithful.

Ever heard of the dunning Kruger effect.

It's exactly like a religion buy into the so-called green nonsense and all will be forgiven that's just like the Catholic Church giving indulgences.

    It's already been effectively tried.

    https://www.congress.gov/bill/110th-congress/senate-bill/3036

That's a bill from about 2008 (the zenith of climate change political power) that proposed a Cap and Trade system to reduce greenhouse gases. To spare you the effort of looking it up and thinking about it, here's the nutshell of what it means.

    1. The government sets up a program of issuing "permits" to produce greenhouse gases. Everybody gets a set annually.

    2. These permits can be traded so that the "market" can use them as needed. If you need more permits, you just buy them from someone who doesn't need them.

    3. The number of permits available is then throttled annually so that eventually people that can't buy enough permits to operate go out of business, and preferably, die decreasing the surplus population.

And like magic, CO2 goes away.

This was the threatened alternative to simply turning the EPA loose to regulate CO2. Everyone at the time basically agreed that letting EPA do it was better than this piece of crap and the bill died on the vine. And not surprisingly, EPA won the ability to regulate CO2 through the abysmal miscarriage of justice known as EPA v. Massachusetts.

By the way, West Virginia v. EPA, which should be decided in the next couple weeks stands the very real possibility of reversing EPA v. Massachusetts returning CO2 to it's rightful place as a non-pollutant and not subject to regulation unless the Congress can actually get it's act together long enough to amend the Clean Air Act. There's a better chance of it snowing in Texas in August.

Ahhhh! You got me! I actually googled up the author and like a lot of these “pay for opinion” authors his piece is published in multiple sites

This was interesting because on this site it talked of
    https://news7g.com/on-election-day-australia-commits-to-climate-suicide-do-you-support-that/

Now Wattsupwiththat seems to have done a bit of correction

    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2022/06/05/on-election-day-australia-commits-climate-suicide-2/

Obviously someone has told him he got things wrong and what is most amazing is that even when told they were wrong HE STILL DID NOT GET IT RIGHT!!!
Religion has very little to do with our political parties

Crap and Trade is entirely different from a Carbon Tax. It's designed to fail.

We keep failing to catch up to where Europe was in the 1970s.

Not really. What's going on now with Biden's insane economics is basically a carbon tax disguised as sheer incompetence. It all leads to the same place.

Cap and trade is designed to fail, a Carbon Tax would work.

The first is what Congress usually does, which is fake it. A properly designed Carbon Tax works.

The attack on Biden is clever, but fiction.

There is always distance, almost always, between political yak and what actually happens.

So I'm wondering what the new guys will actually do.

With the price of oil in everyone's minds, and the obvious volatility in oil producing regions, reducing your dependence on oil is a fantastic idea independent of reducing carbon emissions.

If you're not on the take from Big Oil.

No. Connolley was suspended for six months for his deceitful and unsavory practices, but was then back at it, and remains the principal editor and censor of climate-related information at Wikipedia.

More accurately, it is designed to give corporations new tradeable assets proportional to how much CO2 they emitted in the past. I.e., it is designed to give corporations unearned wealth in return for having made the problem worse.

Take it as a given that I am not going to read any more fallacious drivel. What exact issue is it you want to discuss?
