According to their actions, they do! Also, wrt EVs, pollution from burning oil on their city streets is problematic.
LOL. Sure. Keep telling yourself total emissions don’t matter. China is increasing per capita emissions. We are decreasing per capita emissions. What will your mantra be when their per capita emissions exceed ours? Oh. Doesn’t matter. I forgot. It’s not emissions that matter. It’s change in direction that matters!
The issue has more to do with where we are going rather than where we've been. As to the number of cars on the road, there are large numbers of ICEs that were sold before there were comparable EV options. So, I'm not impressed with counting ICEs on the road.
We're decreasing our CO2 emissions per capita. Great! But, China would have to increase its CO2 by a LOT to emit as much per capita as we do. And, China is clearly serious about that problem, making major government level moves. It's still significantly interesting to see how China is moving forward. I especially like their ability to ship large quantities of electricity over long distances for less cost. And, of course they still far exceed our clean energy capabilities in terms of patents, manufacturing, export and installation.
Yes. The issue is the future. Today, ICE sales in America are declining and EV sales in America are increasing. One danger here is that our legacy manufacturers are not keeping up. Our automotive industry is important, especially in employment. While some of our manufacturers are choosing to wait, the amount of catching up that will be requires as the EV industry matures is going to be a major barrier.
The massive subsidies go away when Chevron is overturned and EPA loses their right to regulate CO2? That's obvious.
There are no "comparable EV options" to ICE. EVs are an inherently inferior technology that's only acceptable in a narrow range of applications. That's not changing any time soon.
Yeh. Stuff like this is awesome. From 2021. https://www.caixinglobal.com/2021-0...can-finally-meet-its-potential-101669627.html Twelve years in the making. Getting that coal generated electricity to the city. As far as per capita they are over half way to equaling our per capita emissions and going strong. Trending upwards. And that’s what matters remember. It doesn’t matter our emissions are greater per capita. It’s the direction we are headed that counts. But yeh, the US approach to transmission to decarbonize sucks. That’s true as well. It’s almost like we aren’t serious about climate change!
The reason that cheaper transport is important for China is that they are building major solar and wind in more distant locations. And, yes. Building this technology is not easy. And, Republicans tend not to be interested.
So you're fine with them going away, right? EVs can compete all on their own, just like they have for the last 30 years, right? And Tesla should be just fine losing the cash cow that's earned them $9 billion from ICE manufacturers because EPA mandates that shakedown, right? No, EPA regulations that are moving to ban ICE by 2035 have nothing to do with it. Are you smoking something?
You're not talking about world wide. Are you? And when EPA loses its ability to mandate EVs in June, the whole world wide house of cards that is "climate change" collapses as the Paris Accord loses it's "global" mandate. If the US can't force CO2 reduction and keep its promises, the whole con is over.
When you ask about Tesla Corporation's financial health, the answer can't be limited to one country. Mandate EVs in June? Where did you get that? EVs are only one of the approaches to meeting the obligations we signed up for. Even if we somehow replaced half our existing fleet of ICEs with EVs it wouldn't form a solution. Climate change is something that has to be addressed by movement on many fronts, all over the globe. EVs aren't going to save New Orleans.
No, EPA is already working on mandating EVs and banning ICE. They've been working on that since Massachusetts v. EPA was decided in 2007 and the Obama administration started to use that to ban CO2 production in automotive in January, 2009. The current 2027 to 2032 rules, intended by Biden to complete the ban in 2035, was finalized today. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/com...-gas-engine-cars/ar-BB1kercq?ocid=socialshare But on January 17, the Supreme Court heard Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo which is likely to overturn 1984's Chevron v. NRDC and Massachusetts as the follow on to that at the end of June when this year's session ends. When that happens, EPA loses its ability to regulate CO2 and all US government ability to force EVs or any CO2 requirements anywhere else (factories, power plants, you name it). Once that happens, it no longer matters what "obligations" we signed up for (not that it ever did. The Paris Accords aren't an actual enforceable treaty). There's no way to meet any of that. And since progressives had to cheat and take their stories through the Supreme Court instead of amending the Clean Air Act as is Constitutionally proper, there's likely no way for them to ever amend the CAA properly going forward to restore any of that. And that's when the whole country gets exposed to just how big a fraud "climate change" is. And New Orleans will be fine. Or at least as fine as a city built on a coast and below sea level can be.
I know your story. But, I don't believe YOU know why people are moving to EVs. Why was Tesla model Y the highest selling car in the world last year? Do you think it was the EPA??? If Republicans manage to prevent the EPA from regulating greenhouse gasses, do you think that means SCIENCE got it wrong??? Or, does that just mean that Republicans in the US Congress got it wrong?
Did I mention Republicans in any way? Congress has nothing to do with it. The whole thing of Chevron and Massachusetts was a progressive work around specifically to avoid having to do the right thing and go through Congress. And I don't care why people are moving to EVs anywhere in the world. I live here. The stupidity of EV mandates affects me directly. But it would be more convincing if the playing field was level and progressives weren't cheating. And no, I'm really not at all impressed with the hackneyed and politicized fraud of "climate science". Apparently the "climate change" fanatics aren't either since they had to cheat so egregiously.

Trump didn't end solar tax credits in his tenure, like his loud-mouthed campaign rhetoric. He let them taper off, per the existing tax credit legislation. Trump is all talk and bluster, and says things just to get elected. As a matter of fact, once he got elected, Republicans had control of the Presidency, the House and the Senate for 2 years. They did very little - Nothing on the Wall (the little that was done was later), No Obamacare reform, and instead of Balancing the Budget, like Trump said, he incurred record debt. Talk and bluster!
