Precisely. "Society" is the go to excuse when authoritarian arguments can't pass scrutiny with their completely arbitrary standards. States do not have rights. Society can deem nothing. These are traits of individuals that can not be applied in that manner.

 

All talk of changing tax policy, balancing budgets, and deficit reduction is political shuck and jive. Tax cuts proposals and tax hike proposals are all fundraising tools for the political class. Trump probably does not know that the primary purpose of legislation is to raise money for politicians.

Trump's proposal to impose a new "tax" on goods manufactured by American companies overseas has earned him the wrath of Wall Street and Big Business. They could not care less about his "tax cuts" - tax cuts are carved into melting butter.
