There is a third group that wants to cut spending on welfare and the military.

I do not want to cut defense. Hardly any of the things that cost money in the military concern defense. The hundreds of bases the US has in foreign nations have nothing to do with defense, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have nothing to do with offense.

There's a point when "defending one's interests" becomes "forcing our interests on others", and that time passed many, many years ago.

 

Powells' a racist

 

Always include Max Cleland who was disabled in Vietnam nearly sacrificing his life for his mates. Then right wing ultra fascist Ann Coulter insulted him by saying he got drunk and threw grenade on himself. Naturally, the right wingers all applauded. Had it been a political lefty who said that about a Republican war hero (what few there are) that lefty would have been censored by everyone.

 

I read the story. He got out of a helicopter, saw a grenade on the ground, tried to pick it up and it exploded. He thought it was his grenade. It make sense. Soldiers carried hand grenades in unsafe ways. It probably jarred loose as he jumped out of the chopper. Bad things happen in wars.

In training I was in a foxhole on a grenade range with another soldier. He pulled the pin but froze, unable to throw it. It took me a second to realize what he had done. I grabbed it and underhanded it out of the foxhole.

It was very noisy.

 

And why do you suppose the Republicans all went silent when she insulted him in that manner?

Now suppose a Dem had done that to a Republican war hero - what would have been the result?

 

It appears that your facts are wrong. No biggie. It happens. I had to go looking long and hard to find the Coulter comment. She was disputing that he was a war hero who was seriously injured in combat. She did not insult him unless you think her saying he was not a war hero but was wounded in an accident is an insult.

Republicans don't give much thought to democrats insulting actual Republican war heroes because we expect that kind of behavior from Democrats.

 

Unfortunately we do not live in your personal Utopia we live in a world completely dependent on the U.S. After all, the U.S. represents the BEST from all corners of the Earth! America has the ability to wield such awesome power as to obliterate the power structures in most countries. There are those that constantly try to convince US that we are some evil force while at the same time gladly accepting our help and aid.

While we are being physically attacked and terrorized around the globe by organized troops most likely armed by....guess who? US. Well, we MEANT for those weapons to go to the rebels in Syria but they disbanded.....Huh? Who is running this ship? A MORON!!
