COMCAST experiencing major loss of services nationwide.

    We here in Pa. and those in many other parts of the country have experienced a major loss of cable TV service and phone and internet in many cases.Known problems here in the Northeast,Florida,Washington state and portions of the mid West.

    Service just restored here in Pa. after being out for over 3 hours.

    comcast service has always been poor and they are over priced. all municipalities should have more than one provider

    I will definitely second that.I had equally bad experience with Verizon.

    We just switched from AT&T to Xfinity - our monthly bill is going down $95/month, and, we're going from 18 mbps to 250 mbps. I loathe Comcast customer service, but AT&T CS is no picnic. We'll see how it goes, but I wouldn't call them over-priced.

    i don't know what the problem is, I don't have access to their inner workings at this time, but there's only only one way this could happen and here it is: Every device they install in your home is a modem, that is your box, your modem and phone modem if you have one. They are all controlled by what's called a ...ahem....controller, and that controller tells every modem in the country what services the customer has , what channels they get, what internet speeds they get, and the controller can even turn certain channels, or all channels, off. So my guess is this is controller related.

    We only have two choices. Government picking winners & losers and allowing a monopoly is BAD.

    Online Comcast is saying someone severed fiber cables somewhere in the country.

    well i agree but us mere mortals are not able to change it. my brother lived in columbus oh where they had 2 choices and they had hundreds of channels, plus some premiums and it was almost half of what i was paying. note that was 10 yrs ago and he now lives in chicago.

    I'm calling BS on that. Something that would cause an outage of that magnitude what have fibers on a SONET ring - that's where the services are carried on multiple fibers using diverse routes so if one group of fibers gets hit everything automatically is transferred to the other fibers.

    well sonet cannot be everywhere. it may not have been the fiber, but who knows, just a few weeks ago, their phone service was disrupted.

    This was the second outage I experienced this week with Comcast,I was also out on Monday.

    No problems in my area. Comcast has actually been pretty good for me. More mps for way cheaper then anything else in my area.

    Yep. Funny, just 15 minutes ago I struggled to get online to check on a mobile phone order and pay my xfinity bill. Glitches but I connected through cell and up popped the alert.

    SERVICE INTERRUPTION 6/29/18

    There is a current major service interruption.

    "One of Comcast’s large backbone network partners had a fiber cut that we believe is also impacting other providers. It is currently affecting our business and residential internet, video and voice customers. We apologize and are working to get services restored as soon as possible." -Comcast



    I'll post more information when it's available.

    We had a pretty severe electrical storm come through pa and nj yesterday morning. Comcast is headquartered in Philly. Could have had an effect.

    In our new location we have Cox Com and we experience more outages here at our old location where we had Comcast.

    I recently. " cut the cord" and now only have Internet and phone service with Cox Com. Using applified antenaes for the on air stations with HULU and Amazon and with Priime no monthly charge. Hulu extra has News ports TV movies all kinds of series.

    On air tv via antenae I get GRIT TV and 24/7 Westerns. Cut my bill by more than half and when I move the phone service to a third cell phone my bill will be way under $100.

    The cable companies have gotten to cute by a trillions times with their packages that con you in withba good price then klop you over the head with a bill over $200.

    I doubt it, but I can imagine that a lot of their controlling systems are there. Even big companies can have bottlenecks in system design.

    Be careful with ATT, I had the 15mbps FTL line and they ended up sending me over 7 bills for 7 different accounts. I have a local FIOS provider now.

    I should do the same myslef, currently I just have the basic 13 channels plus the other "oldies" set, and Internet service. It is still $120 a month.
