Competition breeds innovation. Why would anyone want less innovation in healthcare? It takes money to breed competition. If the government is paying less to healthcare providers then we would have less competition and then less innovation. When we have less innovation we would have to buy other countries ideas and inventions. We will no longer be the best at creating these healthcare innovations. Why would anyone want to be less than the best? If your not first your last.
Here in British Columbia Physicians are paid a set amount as dictated by the Government. As a result docs tend to try to get people in and out of the exam room in 5 min or under. It has a real impersonal cookie cutter feel to it. Also due to lack of competition, seeing a specialist can take months and even over a year. Those who can afford it go to the U.S. for procedures rather than suffer here in Canada for many months while waiting. Welcome to socialized medicine America. Coming to your town soon! Be careful what you wish for... cause you just may get it and find that it is not all it is cracked up to be!
