Hey, Im new to this discussion board, so if there is already a thread on this topic please amalgamate this post into it. Ive recently debated some people on the issue of compulsory voting. As a religious person (Muslim) I passionately oppose making voting compulsory on conscientious grounds. Those who argue in favor of it assert that it is a civic duty and that it is necessary for the citizens of a state to participate. I prefer apoliticism and feel that people should not be pressured to participate politically in a system they fundamentally disagree with. There are many other religious groups which share a similar perspective, such as Jehovahs Witnesses, Christadelphians and others.
