I'm a sports fan. I've been paying attention to some of the changes in the conferences of the NCAA. For those paying attention, you know that the PAC 10 is now the PAC 12 (and may later become the PAC 16), the Big 10 (which had 11 teams anyway) is still the Big 10 but now has 12 schools. The Big 12 no longer has 12 teams (Nebraska left to go to the Big "10"). The SEC looks like it might officially get Texas A&M in the future. The ACC just recently added Pitt and Syracuse, two basketball powers formerly of the Big East. If you're confused, it's ok. I am too. When it's all said and done, the Big 12 and Big East might be left out in the cold. There are a lot of moving parts here: The PAC 12 and what they want, Texas and Oklahoma, the SEC, the ACC possibly looking to get 16 teams, and the Big 12 and Big East trying to stay alive.

What do you think will happen?

Well to be honest about it, I really don't care. All I do is watch the games. I really don't care who wins, I just like to watch the games.

I just think it's interesting, though the only loyalty I really have is to the ACC. It's interesting that a small move is made and that starts the whole thing up.

It was a relatively minor change (Nebraska to the Big 10--that was the first domino I believe). This must have been years in the making. Prior moves (like Miami, Virginia Tech, and Boston College going to the ACC) had been done years ago.

Don't forget Colorado & Utah, the two teams that moved to the PAC 12.
I find some irony in Dave Gavitt, the founder of the Big East, dies the same day that Pitt & 'Cuse petition to join the ACC. Now I hear UCONN ("my" team) is "aggressively" pursuing to join the ACC. UCONN was nothing before they joined the B.E.; no loyalty, it's a shame.
Since I don't live in Ct. anymore & don't get the news from the eastcoast much anymore, this whole B.E. issue came out of nowhere for me.
I really don't like any of this, but the only silver lining I can see out of this, is that maybe smaller schools (like UMASS in the east & SMU in the southwest) can fill in the openings to keep the Big 12 & Big East alive.

Someone has told me they think remnants of the Big 12 and Big East will be forced to merge as the Pac 100, SEC, and ACC become superconferences. Who knows if it happens or not, but it's interesting nonetheless. There's a lot of rumors regarding the Big East. One of them, as you say, is UCONN going to the ACC. I also wonder if Rutgers might also come over. If not the ACC then maybe the Big 10. Also I'm hearing West Virginia might eventually go to the SEC. Still more, second-tier schools like South Florida or Cincinnati could possibly join the ACC if they can't get UCONN or Rutgers. I think a lot is going to happen within the next few years.

I guess we'll have to wait to see how all this shakes out, but it seems as though it may be never ending, where movement will be constant.
The remnants of the B.E. & Big 12 joining together may actually make sense. For the schools that is - but not geographically, though.
