Member @VietVet has done something rare here. He has more "likes" than he has posts, at least as of today. (Messages: 3,057 Likes Received: 3,150) Congrats VietVet! http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?members/&type=likes
Having an ignore list on a political discussion site is pathetic. Using it is even more pathetic. It leaves you with an echo chamber - not a discussion board.
Normally I iggy people who use fallacies like verbosity or ad hom. I cannot recall which @VietVet was guilty of but I have no doubt he deserved it.
We don't care what your rationalizations are. He stated some fact you didn't like so you ignored him. It isn't complicated.
VV is one of the most clear sighted and succinct posters in this forum. Congratulations on a well deserved recognition.
There really isn't much honest discussion here. Pretty much just calling people names if they don't agree with you.
Being a nerd I scanned the entire list and spotted that @Sallyally also shares that distinction. Good on ya, Sheila!
IMO likes are far less relevant on the new forum format. Likes used to account for thread prioritization.
Lol, 'likes' lost their meaning a long time ago. Now they're like Hollywood award shows where leftists praise each other for breathing. I love reading the profile posts libs write to each other saying how great you are. Sappy with a capital S.
The left is far more effective at 'group support' than the right. Organizing and directing the 'noise' makes it seem louder, bigger than reality. This is a strong advantage the left has always had over the right in everything from discussion to elections. They're just plain better at team cooperation. While i figure leftist posters are several times more likely to like eachothers stuff, and thus several times more likely to receive likes from their peers, both despite the left being a minority here (at least according to the polls I've seen), VV is apparently even more effective than most. Gratz
This is a good point. Their tent is able to house radical feminists who stand right alongside fanatical Muslims, who stand right next to gays. They are able to put that much aside in order to come together and vote against their political enemies.
The way Ive always described forum junkies -- Righties form alliances. Lefties form war parties. The obsession with liking each other is their version of dancing around a campfire.
From what I see, all righties do is whine. When I was a Republican we believed in big ideas and noble causes. That is certainly not the case for Republicans anymore. Of course that is why I left the party and became an Independent.
