I'm sure many people will say that this would raise inflation. The chart below shows that the cost of labor is only a thin slice of the retail price of most products. "Absolutely. There's been a massive influx of impoverished immigrant workers, which depresses the wages of American workers. The best way of preventing that is a much higher minimum wage. The reason that businesses hire them is that they're willing to work at such a cheap rate. They're willing to undercut American wages. If the minimum wage were much higher -- say, $12 an hour -- a lot of businesses would hire Americans." http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/cons...californias-minimum-wage-12/story?id=21034525
This guy is not a conservative. He's a fascist who instead of outright government welfare programs wants private sector companies to become the Minestry of Welfare instead. If Unz or other fake conservatives object to workers drawing welfare then stop giving them money.
He is a libertarian and publishes the American Conservative. The right will attack any messenger. Well, at least, you got that right. Taxpayers are tired of funding corporate welfare and believe that it is time for corporations to pay their workers. For you to think that it is a bad idea shows how irrelevant your kind has gotten to the public.
Then stop funding funding government charity. The welfare system was lib's stupid idea not true conservatives. Just admit you were wrong and be done with it.
You have to remember when people like Mac don't like something it is probably good for our country. Let the puff up their chest and spew their nonsense while normal people with the good of the nation in mind ignore them and move forward.
Your side is admitting the failure of the lib welfare state and turning to the private sector for help. Wiping every nose only creates more losers demanding that government take care of them.
This is just a bad business practice. If you want to have workers earn 12 dollars an hour, pay them 12 dollars an hour. If your competitors are paying less for labor, then you can get the best workers by offering a higher wage. You can be choosier. If you do not get the best workers for that price, then your business will fail and all of your employees will be paid nothing because they will not have a job.
Enter Ron Unz, Silicon Valley millionaire, publisher of libertarian magazine The American Conservative, theoretical physicist by training, enemy of bilingual education and former Republican candidate for governor of California. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Unz Ronald Keeva Unz (born 1961 in North Hollywood, Los Angeles) is a former businessman and political activist, best known for an unsuccessful race in 1994 for the governorship of California, and for sponsoring propositions promoting structured English immersion education. He was publisher of The American Conservative from March 2007 to August 2013.
I go by what he says not what he calls himself. This guy does not pass the smell test with me at least on this issue.
Like I have said, conservatives prefer that people die rather than corporations paying workers. Most conservatives do not seem to have a heart. I do.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/21/opinion/21kristof.html?_r=0 Liberals give less to charity.... A lot of conservatives believe in "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Stop the chronic welfare and teach a man skills to work.
Obama voters won't die if we stop giving them free stuff. But they may have less free time on their hands because they are working to support themselves.
Liberals give less to charity because charity is the Conservative's way to tell himself that he's doing something good. I support giving the impoverished the necessary skills to work, but at the same time, if you pay them a wage that isn't conducive to their getting out of poverty, they will remain impoverished. Cons like that, because they like having people they can look down on.
