Not really. You need to understand what is and what is not a legal retainer. Just because it comes from the business account of Trump may not be legitimate business expense. Thus your argument is null and void.

I agree with your sentiment, and I'm sure you know that ain't gonna happen. I've been voting LP for decades.

This judge has made comments that show a lot of bias, such as stating from the bench that he regrets not being able to issue a harsher punishment against people in Trump's orbit. If Bragg could have chosen any judge to sit on this case, this would be the one he would want. Judges are supposed to be randomly assigned, but the odds of this judge being randomly assigned is slim. What most likely happened is that Bragg claimed this case was related to a previous case in front of this Judge and requested he is assigned on that basis. That is a legal request that can be made by the prosecution. And this judge likely jumped at the opportunity to accept that request.

There has been no bias in what he has said when exercising his official duties when he sentenced two of Trump's former associates. Sorry.

Let me tell you what I find "emotionally" concerning. The fact that one man has created such a societal, legal, disruption.......that the law itself is being questioned. That THREATS are coming into anyone that is involved in getting that one man to be held to count for his dealings, and behaviors.

What kind of country is it that it is nec to virtually bring a city to a standstill with massive security because of ONE man....Because of this man....... his followers have been making threats to the legal institutions.......... and this is supposed to be a nation of LAWS??.............In who's reality??

One man does not determine his own rules. laws....and how about letting the process work a sit should and was designed to.

Iti s very concerning that ONE man could have that much influence......and folks allow that to happen. Particularly when the man is emotionally, psychologically UNSTABLE.........and VOLATILE
He has no command over his rage and is easily triggered.
One could say that he is a danger to himself and definitely others.

and no ,one does not need t be a mental health worker to see that he is unstable. and irrational. The problem is that mental health is not a big priority........ and illness is explained away as eccentric.Or "that is just him.......his style or some other fabrication.

These legal issues might be the best thing for him.........as he might have to see himself for what he rally is....... or is afraid he is.........but he might be in too much denial.to gain some valuable insight into himself.

    @MiaBleu

Your post about one man becoming the law unto himself reminds me of the words of Mr. Justice Brandeis.

Yes this case is but one example of myriad such cases demonstrating that the rule of law in this country has been dead for a long time. Some portray Bragg's efforts as the first time the rule of law has been betrayed in this country. They are wrong.

Brandeis, dissenting in Olmstead: The government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill it teaches the whole people by example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. To declare that in the administration of the criminal law the end justifies the means--to declare that the government may commit crimes in order to secure the conviction of a private criminal--would bring terrible retributions.

From the Patriot Act to the proposed Restrict Act and many other illegitimate legislation, the government has demonstrated that it is a lawbreaker. Bragg has declared in public that he is a law unto himself.

The rule of law in this country has been dead in the water long before Bragg's illegitimate actions.

Highlighted in red: This is a huge "tell" that the indictments handed down today are not nationally politically motivated. The national leaders of the Democrat party are probably cringing at the idea of Trump being charged, or worse, convicted, and eliminating Trump from the Republican field, as they stand less of a chance, regardless of who it the Dem nominee, against any non-Trump.
Bring on the moderates of both parties, please. Let's start moving away from sensationalize politics and start getting things done. PLEASE.
    Just my opinion.............................

You would be right if the proceedings would eliminate trump. From what I've heard, that is extremely unlikely. Ergo, this helps the dems yugely. And the dumb maga types are all too happy to fall into the trap.
But yeah, I agree with your general sentiment.

Edit: what would you think if the charges are indeed as flimsy as reported? What if the chance of a conviction approaches zero? Would you still think there is no political component to this circus?
And if there IS a political component who would you say is the ringmaster?

Tell us why Biden withheld money from Ukraine without repeating some RIGHT WING propaganda.

One side is telling the truth, the other side is lying.

    THE TRUTH
    1. There was no money being withheld. Ukraine wanted a loan from the IMF (International Monetary Fund). They needed loan guarantees from the US to get it. Biden informed the Ukrainian government that the US would not issue the loan guarantees unless the prosecutor was removed.
    2. This was US policy. Biden did not do this under his own authority. He was a representative of the US government.
    3. The prosecutor was NOT looking into Hunter Biden. The issue was the prosecutor's FAILURE to look into corruption by the head of Burisma.

To you "edit" question: First off, it would be disappointing, because then it would appear to be partisan or at least driven by animosity rather than law and I don't appreciate that. I think there are a lot of political components out there, like the number of DUIs written because a police chief is under fire politically for appearing to let people go, etc, etc. My approach to thinking about that is- if one doesn't do anything wrong, then there is little worry about political motivation, regardless of the theater.
Ringmaster? I would say DA Bragg, as he is the government attorney representing the state of NY. I highly doubt he is under orders from above to press charges, but rather under pressure from his electors. I don't live in NY City, so I don't know much about the politics there, but I just don't see any national figure pushing him, and probably no state officials (governor), but the possibility of the mayor or NYC leaders, however they have that structured.
That's an off the top of my head answer, so be kind please....................lol!

    Systemic reasons as follows:

    1. Entrenched American belief in a false dichotomy two party system. Ross Perot was the last hope for a 3rd party President.

    2. Low Information voters.

    3. Government/media complex, i.e., fake news, provides a very controlled desimination of information.

    4. Lack of basic education in history, government, and economics, such as used to be required for a high school education. In general the dumbing down of education at all levels.

    5. General decline in work ethic and a desire for free stuff.

As a voter for the Libertarian candidate from 1988 until 2016 I would have agreed with #1. That is until Trump came on the scene. Since then it is not a "false dichotomy". There is a very real difference. The Democrats, for all you may disagree with their policies, still deal in reality. The "Trumpified" GOP does not.

Until the GOP decides to give up the fantasy world of Trump I will be voting for Democrats (unless, of course, they have a similar rejection of reality)

I've said it before, I voted for Reagan twice and switched the the Libertarians with the rise of the religious right..but still refused to vote Democrat.

In 2016 the GOP did something that the Democrats were never able to do...they made me a Democrat.

Lets say everything you posted is true and uncontested.
And lets make sure we cover all the allegations by the left
He's a Rapist, pedophile, homophobic, womanizer, tax evader, real estate fraudster, Islamophobic, racist, anti Semite, liar, emotionally unstable, psychologically unstable, Dictator, (and a few dozen more) that are all personality traits. Not something that all just became personality traits because he ran for president. These are life long traits.

Where does that leave the left and Democrats? The same people who swooned over Trump for 35 years, And don't even try and tell me or anyone else this isn't true.
They gave Trump 6 doctorates from Universities
His own Star on the Hollywood walk of fame
    Humanitarian Award
    Tree of Like award
    Ellis Island award
Unicorn Children's Foundation Shining Star Award
Palm Tree Award by the Palm Beach Police Foundation
Presidential Hero Award by the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation
    Time Person of the Year
Financial Times Person of the Year
Asked to be on hundreds of talk show dates, movies, new paper, magazine articles, and a list of best selling books, The America we deserve, The Art of the Deal, Never Give up, Think Big.
His own reality show Celebrity Apprentice that ran for 8 years
Two-time Gallup Poll Most Admired Man

If Trump is everything you say he is, this didn't all happen just when he decided to run for president. These are LIFE LONG traits that would be easy to see in any individual. You couldn't hide this traits from anyone.
So Democrats love these kinds of people when they are fund raising, inviting him to their high profile weddings, ?
What about democrat strongholds who voted for Trump. This is what they wanted in 2016?

You don't get to make all these claims while at the same time convince anyone all this manifested just 24 hours after announcing he's running for president. Unless your talking to someone with an IQ lower than a fence post.

So, this is the guy the left loved for 35 years. Brandishing him with awards, trophies, movies. magazine covers, talk shows, and the worlds biggest liberal (Oprah) bringing him on her show begging him to run for president telling everyone what a hero he is, just magically became everything you and the left now claims he is in just a few days or months?

You might want to rethink your claims.

Really? So you think you have more integrity that anyone you have met or know anything about then think your claims are true just because you made them?
Just an FYI, ad homs are personal attacks. It has no bearing on being true or not.
If all you have is a personal attack when disputing some claim, its an indication of intellect. Just like your assumptions of your own integrity over people you don't know.
But we all appreciate you verifying the original claim

Seems that Trump is the object of misplaced "hero worship? Many of us saw through the man's facade a long time ago.. realizing how unethical a person he is.

in the final analysis........each to his own.........
