Go woke. Make a billion dollars? That's exactly why happened with Barbie where conservatives and MSM predicted it would flop because of the anti-woke movement. Barbie is only 1 of 50 films to gross over a billion dollars at the box office, and that is darn impressive considering the political climate we live in today and the attempts to cancel the movie from the extremist right. Barbie has been met with widespread critical acclaim, and now that they are outperforming expectations, I wonder if FOX News/MSM will report of the success of Barbie considering they went out of their way to have a handful of segments and articles predicting its demise.

 

People who think a movie about plastic dolls is trying to turn their kids gay or trans are now officially known as Barbie Q’s

 

I’m not super interested in this movie but now I’m mildly curious because it sounds funny.

 

And meanwhile the Republican movie Sound of Freedom (just as mush a fantasy movie as Barbie) just had one of their major founders arrested for… you guessed it… felony child kidnapping

Ah republicans, they never cease to be consistent

 

I have said several times that there is NO way the right will win the Culture Wars. And they are already losing steam. Reactionaries (be it Republican or Democrat) NEVER end up winning.

The need to be prepared, because the pendulum WILL swing.

As for the movie... I'll be watching Oppenheimer in the next few days. But will be sure to check out Barbie when it comes to Netflix

 

I wasn't interested in the film, but because it got critical acclaim and was met with resistance from the extremist right, there mist be some truths in the movie they don't want me to see.

I plan on taking my family next week.

My wife and i are also hitting Oppenheimer this week... My son already saw it with his friends and gave it a thumbs up.

No interest in Barbie myself, although I'd normally pay $50 to watch Margot Robbie read from a phone book.

But I'm glad it's doing well, to stick it to the No Fun Party.

The committee that gave him the award should have definitely dug a little deeper but I fail to see how this is in comparison to one of the financial backers of a fictional movie about child kidnapping also being a child kidnapper outside of you just again screaming about the gays.

Something to remember as well... The creative elements of Barbie are not able to fully support their movie due to the strike... Could have made a difference..

I was going to ask if the makers were going to remove this guy's name from the credits, but with MAGA, the better question is: will they rename the movie after him?

 

I haven't seen the Barbie movie, but based on the trailer about Barbie I have a feeling that it's going to be about growing up and change. Does anyone know?
