Metal Thieves Are Stripping America’s Cities. Excerpt (embedded link):

These people have no agenda in life. When crime is not prosecuted what do people expect?

Copper thefts occur all over the place, not just cities. This isn't a politics issue. Thieves steal it because the cost of copper makes the risk worth it. And most times, it can be stolen during times when the chances of getting caught are low such as at night, weekends, or summers(for school buildings) reducing the risk.

When I lived in CA I used to see stories of people being electrocuted trying to steal power cables about once a year. People in CA, and I believe it has spread across the country, have been stealing catalytic converters for years.

The best solution is to clamp down on the scrap metal places that will buy this stuff. When turning in scrap metal, the shops need to get a person's ID when things like copper wire, the metal in catalytic converters, fire hydrants, etc, are brought in.

BTW, this story is behind a paywall, but I'm sure all of us are familiar with it.

So we are turning into a 3rd World nation. Wire theft has been going on in Indonesia and other 3rd World countries for a long time. And all because people continue to allow the rich to rule. It's that simple. The US is experiencing its continued collapse because of this.

This is nothing new. It's been going on for many years.

Ending "bail reform" would go a long way, as well as resuming prosecution for "property crime."

We all deal with the horrors of Bidenomics in our own way. Some people steal copper, others like me started growing potatoes and other things. If anything, Joe is teaching me how to economize better (glass half full right?)

What's been going on with "bail reform"?

And isn't property crime (theft, you mean?) always prosecuted?

Yep! Allowing certain elites to go unpunished sends a bad message that anyone can get away with anything

So were all the folks who scrapped copper during Trump's term doing it because of Trumponomics?

I could answer that better if I see stats on stolen copper under Trump Vs Biden, otherwise I can't give a good answer. Don't take too long!
