I realize the group think on this is shutting down commerce and sheltering in place is a good and necessary thing but why is it necessary now and it wasn’t with the swine flu that killed thousands of Americans?
People in California are being ordered to stay home unless absolutely necessary and restaurants are closed down nation wide. Small business can’t weather this and countless mom and pop operators will go broke. Unemployment is going to skyrocket and we will be in a recession soon. At some point the medicine is worse than the disease and I believe we are at that tipping point.

During the H1N1 pandemic obama was president and dear leader was not one to be made to look bad.

Well if this draconian, let's compare it to other quarantines. Why don't you do that OP?

I call it a police state action. I hate to see government denying freedom to the people. It should be protecting freedom.

That’s just it. Why such a harsh quarantine now but during the Swine flu pandemic everyone just went about their business.

It does seem like certain states are enjoying using their power here. California or certain parts of it are ordering people to stay home except for absolutely essential business.

Lower mortality rate and a better administrative response. It's not a good case example. A better is Spanish Flu, or if you really want to look at other cases, what about polio?

The hysteria motivates them to do this and it only expands the hysteria. It's crazy.

sure when people dying by the hundreds thousands, you gonna wish we had social distancing. listen to the health experts. even if you are in the low risk group, your parents/grand parents or other elder family members are not.

    Exactly.

Right NOW there are tons of College Kids partying at Private St. Pat's Parties (b/c bars are closed) and they are Whooping it Up...
... and then they are going to disperse and All Visit Grandma.
