https://www.thesouthafrican.com/latest-news-zimbabwe-coup-live-updates/ Always something in Africa... And they say it's not a coup... IT IS A COUP! Your military kidnapping the president of your country is a coup. lol I got my popcorn checking the live feeds.
The insistence of not calling this ‘military intervention’ a coup isn’t just an attempt to maintain calm in the country. It’s a lot more nuanced than that. "Any governments that are established following a military coup find it extremely difficult to gain legitimacy. Both The African Union and 15-member strong Southern African Development Community are on record as saying they won’t recognise a party that gains power through a coup d’etat. By sticking to the narrativethat it is a ‘peaceful transition’, Zimbabwe’s forces against Mugabe can argue that no ‘coup’ has occurred.
ZANU PF has a way of solving our own problems, the situation is stable and Zimbabwe is open for business. There was no coup, but a bloodless peaceful transition- the centre is strong and there is peace with honest leadership.— ZANU PF (@zanu_pf)
You're probably right. I'm keeping up with details on how his wife, who just fled the country, influenced him and others around him that may have influenced this military overthrow. But this is a coup. May be with good intentions but still a coup. I'm also interested in what Mnangagwa is about.
Maybe this will allow the locals to take a break from beating, raping and killing the White farmers long enough that they can feed the country again.........
Coup's so not have to be bloody to be coup's. Definition of coup d'état plural coups d'état or coups d'etat play \ˌkü-(ˌ)dā-ˈtä, ˈkü-(ˌ)dā-ˌtä, -də-\ :a sudden decisive exercise of force in politics; especially :the violent overthrow or alteration of an existing government by a small group a military coup d'état of the dictator https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/coup d'état Like it or not, by definition it WAS a coup.
Mnangagwa is about becoming the next president of Zimbabwe: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-41995876 As the song goes....meet the new boss, same as the old boss....
As I recall it was considered the bread basket of southern Africa. Now, thanks to Mugabe, the ZANU-PF and their policies it's become a basket case...
Things settlin' down after Mugabe resignation... Zimbabwe army leaves streets a month after Mugabe's ouster December 18, 2017 - Zimbabwe’s army declared an end on Monday to the military intervention that ousted Robert Mugabe, promising to shut down their last roadblocks in the capital and hand over to police.
