Sokola graduated from Mount Pleasant High School (1973) and the University of Delaware (BSPE 1977). He taught in Delaware public schools during the desegregation transition period before becoming a Lab Technician at the DuPont Experimental Station in 1981. He is currently an Associate Investigation in DuPont's Corporate Center for Analytical Sciences and will be moving to the new Chemours Company on July 1,2015. Senator David P. Sokola has served in the Delaware State Senate since 1990 and has served as the Chairman of the Senate Education for the past 23 years.
