“A committee reporting to Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser has come up with a list of dozens of historical monuments, schools, parks, government buildings and other structures that it recommends making changes to because of the historical namesakes’ connection to slavery or racism -- even the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial.

Among the historical figures named on the list are former presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson. The list also includes Founding Fathers Benjamin Franklin and George Mason, inventor Alexander Graham Bell and composer of the national anthem Francis Scott Key.

It recommends the Federal government “remove, relocate, or contextualize” several very famous tourist attractions, including the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial and the Benjamin Franklin Statue.”

Right again, and I'm not happy about it.

I predicted this YEARS ago when the Democrat movement to destroy precious public art began.

    It's 1984 folks.

And if you don't REALLY love Big Brother...

And if it's not a monument proclaiming WAR IS PEACE...

Down the Memory Hole it goes.

    Vote Democrat 2020

We have a board member names after one of those chaps. Will the left demand that he be cancelled even though he's one of their own?

The "recommendations" seem like a HORRIBLE Idea.

I don't think any of these "recommendations" will be implemented.

    I am against it.

A few years ago after CVille, Trump warned that the leftist radicals would be coming after these other monuments...he was right.

The media once again owes him a big, I'm sorry, you were right

Do they plan to remove, relocate, or contextualize their city named after George Washington?

FYI, the mayor does not have any authority over any federal buildings. They can make all the recommendations they want, but it's pointless.

Franklin owned 2 slaves and within his lifetime freed them.

I don't think renaming monuments goes far enough. We need to fully erase every remnant of slavery from America - nothing can be allowed to remain! That means destroying every statue, every landmark, every historical site, every building/street/park/school/etc named after anything from that time period - it all has to be razed. We have to dig up every grave of anyone who was alive during that era, scour every museum for artifacts from that period, and search through every library for books taking account or making mention to the period of slavery - and it all must be burned. And with the upmost importance we must remove all persons of African ancestry from the country so that we may never have the opportunity to do their people wrong again, they are a direct product of slavery and they must go as their presence is an ongoing reminder of slavery and that means its offensive.

***The above is facetious sarcasm and deliberate parody of moonbat progressive ideology.

This is a ridiculous endeavor. And if Washington DC was to take down all those monuments who the hell would ever go? Talk about killing tourism.

The Jefferson Memorial wouldn't be missed. It is located way too far out of the way, a very long walk on a hot day for a relatively pointless memorial.

Not that I would take that report seriously.

Reminds me of the suggestion for the people who were/are offended by the Washington Redskins name that if they really wanted to get rid of the offensive part they should keep "Redskins" and can "Washington."

I think everyone NOT crazy predicted this. Trump certainly called it a few times once cancel culture was being accepted by the MSM and Democrats leaders. Once you give them an inch they’ll take a mile.

Trump personally controlled the ability to prevent people of color from getting houses and apartments, even though these possible tenants had the money and credentials (credit, jobs etc), even in housing Trump had used public money to give big money for himself.

The only "big, I'm sorry," Trump deserves is a big fat kick in his butt, each and every day.

The best thing the FBI can do is analyze the flight manifests to and from cities with rioting. With modern database technology it should be easy to pick out the ANTIFA anarchists. Geez, I wonder if anyone paid to protest and riot are claiming that money on their income taxes.........just a thought.

I like it! It removes the crutch and forces folks to rely on the content of their character. Of course everything named after MLK has to go too.

A lot of people getting offended over very little.

The recommendation includes “contextualize”. That could mean putting up a plaque with historical information. Frankly, I find plaques that explain something about a monument to be quite interesting.
    Big f’ing deal.

Seems to be a lot of Trump supporters getting very offended over very little.
That’s the trumpist way: outrage over nothing or even over a false narrative.

I can't speak for the Trump supporters, but I've seen how dangerous and destructive the Democrats have been for the last 4 years, and we're headed into deeper trouble now.
