    de·ism (dzm, d-)
    n.
The belief, based solely on reason, in a God who created the universe and then abandoned it, assuming no control over life, exerting no influence on natural phenomena, and giving no supernatural revelation.

Considering our codes of civilized conduct are derived from the bible, you are a beneficiary of it whether you like it our not. Unless you are a Muslim or Asian on African.
The ten commandments was just fine until they got a government selling favors.

I don't know that deism is the right word. Deism as a philosophy doesn't seem that predominant, but it is one of many ways of turning away from organized religion, and they do do that, fortunately.

Na the bible derived it from older codes. People have always had codes of conduct given we are a social species. It's part of working together to be the dominant tribe. The 10 commandments - some are logical, but some are just silly rules from a more primitive time.

There are a whole lot more than 10 rules for conduct in the Bible. I hope you never wear your leather belt with a cotton t-shirt. That’s anti-Bible behavior.

The Ten C's actually came after the Code of Hammurabi of ~1700 BC. Civilization builds on the good ideas of the past.
The Code governed the activities between persons under his control.
Google it. It is worth a read. Definitely "old school":

Strange evidence for progress. Sounds like the lights are going out. Good night.

    why is deism weird?
there is a god, and then, do what you want
on the contrary, living according to the Bible is foolishness
    the bible contradicts science

This is a notion I struggle with. I too, am an Atheist, but I have a permissive stance. I just think they are wrong about the God bit. I'm not upset with them for it.

But human history paints a very clear picture of societies with and without religion. It's likely for tertiary reasons, but I know of no great society in history, that didn't have religion. I struggle with the idea we should do away with religion, despite my own Atheism. Religion serves a purpose, and we should consider what path we take, if we do away with it. Just because they are wrong about gods, doesn't mean it's not keeping some of them in line.
