Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is up against a lawsuit from Republicans in her state’s House and Senate over her extension of an already-strict emergency order that has regulated residents’ movement and closed businesses. The GOP lawsuit claims that Whitmer overstepped her authority by extending her previous shutdown order, saying she needs the legislature’s approval to extend it beyond 28 days.

FEDERAL JUDGE HALTS KENTUCKY GOVERNOR'S BAN ON IN-PERSON CHURCH SERVICES AFTER LAWSUIT

Whitmer responded by calling the lawsuit “a political bluff” and “power grab” by the Republican lawmakers.

In Wisconsin, the state Supreme Court struck down the state's “safer at home” on Wednesday, saying the administration of Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat, overstepped its authority when it extended the order through the end of May. The ruling said any future orders must be approved by the state’s legislature.

It is great to see America beginning to re open and restart the economy. A beam of sunlight bursting forth from the darkness of Wuhan. It’s also good to see those in oppressed blue states fighting back against their dictators and taking them to court. Wisconsin won.

In addition to Michigan and Wisconsin the article talked of the situations in New York, California, and a variety of other states where there is resistance to prolonged lockdowns. On Wisconsin!

And then on to Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey.

When a Democrat get its first taste of real actual authoritarianism, it tastes exceptionally good, and they will not relinquish it easily. Besides the longer they can keep the economy down, the better chances they have come November.

    I live in Illinois.
Some counties here are trying to fight the stay at home order, but this state is so blue, I’m not holding out any hopes.
I did notice that mass media is trying to gently push our governor to open up by telling us on morning radio shows that the governor must have the best intentions in his mind and that he might not realize how much he is hurting his base - entertainment industry and gig workers. He suddenly announced that Chicago region is at phase 3 of his “plan”, even though just a couple of weeks ago phase 3 seemed like something that will be possible some time in July or August. It’s getting pretty obvious that his change is mind comes from nothing else but pressure from mass media.

Oh please continue. The difference is that the GOP governors are re opening faster and making deals to settle the lawsuits as the article said if you’d bothered to read it. It also mentioned a couple of GOP governors as bad as the bulk of the democrat governors. There are 5-10 democrat governors bitterly clinging to shutdowns to be able to keep their dictatorial powers over their subjects. They are control freaks with god complex issues.

Democrats are totalitarians who get a thrill out of using government to deny people liberty.

Imagine hating America and Americans then having the opportunity to use your power to punish them and force them to bend the knee. Democrats watch the lockdowns with glee.

They go as far as filling skate parks with sand and busting down beach goers while ignoring homeless druggies shooting up on the sidewalk.

Neil Ferguson's Imperial model could be the most devastating software mistake of all time

So here is the thing, Ducey allowed people to go to churches, to the lakes/parks, he allowed restaurants to serve food in a take out manner. And he is opening up the state. The dems, not so much.

Speaking of god complex, I'm not sure God loves the idea of mass church gatherings yet..

On Topic, no re-opening lawsuits will ever go anywhere, but you keep on keeping on....

I live in Nevada. Our Governor is a Democrat. Parks stayed open. Restaurants were allowed to serve takeout.

Me thinks you have no idea what you are talking about.

I thought the POTUS or a state Governor would need to declare martial law to impose these kind of restrictions on us. I don't think any mandatory shutdown requirements are constitutional otherwise. Please, correct me if I am wrong, but the people do not have to abide by unconstitutional executive actions.

You are correct. the right wingers are suing ONLY the DEMOCRATIC Governors. That is correct. This is due to Trump using the coronavirus as a reelection tool, and screams of fascist, and dividing folks, and having folks hate each other, as a tool. Sick **** that he is.

I've been doning alot of research on that. And what I have found is that its a gray area. Being that i live in AZ, that is what I've been foccussing on more. Every state has public health laws on their books. Those laws alow the government to force able quarantine someone if they're sick with a communicable diseases and refuse to stay away from people. There is case laws and examples, Mary Mallon,Robert Daniels and Kaci Hickox. But, Hickox is a bit ify. Were it gets grey and really ify is something like the churches. In SC some mayor had the PD citing people who were in their cars in the church parking lot. With their windows rolled up, social distancing and listen to their paster.

Why would they require the whole state to go under that kind of process, for a few idiots that think they can infect anyone they please? There are other communicable diseases. Take AIDS, if a guy is infecting all he can, they can lock him up. If you are homicidal, without meds, they can require you to take your meds. No need to declare state emergency.

I think you are correct. Constitutionally the kind of restrictions imposed would require martial law. (I don't know the criteria for governors to declare martial law, or if they even can.) Ordering quarantines to alleviate heath crises is warranted and ruled by courts to be constitutional. But those are quarantines for sick and ill people, not healthy people. Quarantining healthy people is just a nice moniker for unconstitutional house arrest en masse without any due process or even any charge.
