In the majority of states where the GOP did it (Arizona, Alaska, and Virginia, and Nevada in the 2020 election), they were wisely conserving resources, there was no question at all who was going to win the nomination.

Hawaii was the exception, but it is a less important state because Hawaii never ends up voting for a Republican candidate. (Any Republican presidential candidate in the national election will get no votes from Hawaii in the Electoral College)
So it could be argued there's almost no point in the GOP giving Hawaii any vote over who the GOP candidate will be.
(It's not even normal for the GOP to hold a state-wide election for nomination in Hawaii. Their first caucus was only in 2012. )

By contrast, Florida ended up throwing its vote to Obama (to the Democrats) in 2008 and 2012.
Even before that, in 2000, the presidential election was very close in Florida and they ended up having a recount. (Democrat candidate Al Gore almost won the state, and if he had, then would have won the national election)
Not to mention that Florida is the third most populated state in the U.S. so has more representation in the nominations and elections.

In Florida, it may have been true Biden seemed to have the big lead in public survey polls that were taken, but in this situation there are also some big factors why Biden may not be a desirable or the preferred candidate. And likely an alternative candidate did not emerge in the public survey polls in the state simply due to lack of name recognition, which of course likely would have changed if the candidates had a reason to campaign in that state.

I think you might be right about Newsome running instead of Biden. It is clear people want to move past Biden.

Because it has been put forward (in this OP and others) by right leaners that Biden won't be the candidate and likely Newsom will, how do you feel about a Trump/Newsom debate? Personally, I think it would be great!

That's the response I was expecting. When republicans do it, it's because there is no doubt about who is going to win the primary. It's a cop out.

If it comes down to Walter or Orange Julius, I would vote for Taylor Swift. As many swifties there are, she would probably win.

I can understand not wanting to waste energy when there's no serious challenger. I do wish there was a serious challenger.

So many Dems don't like Bribed Joe that they were afraid that Bribed Joe would suffer a humiliating loss to write in candidates.

    Jail their opponents,
    Cancel elections,
    Force names off the ballot,
Now some of these clowns want to frog march the Speaker of the House. They are steadily getting more and more insane.

And the sudden flurry of stories that is' Trump who is a threat to Biden rather than the guy canceling elections, altering ballots, and trying to jail the opposition? That's the Left wing Media trying to whip up an assassin to kill Trump because they know that he's on his way to reelection.

Where is Joe trying to jail the opposition. I do recall in 2020 republicans canceling the primary. I do recall Trump chanting lock her up. I do recall Trump blackmailing Ukraine to investigate his political opponent. I do recall Trump's DOJ seizing records of democrats on intelligence committees.

You are going to pretend to be unaware that the Biden Administration is trying to jail Trump?
