Democrats in Congress, like Pelosi and Schumer, are against sending checks directly to the public

I hear that the Democrats in Congress, like Pelosi and Schumer, are against sending checks directly to the public in favor of unemployment insurance.

I don't like that.

If the Democrats get their way, then I'm not going to get anything because I'm self-employed.

Even the Republican plan of only a $600 check for the poor is better than this. How can that be?

 

The trouble with giving out checks like this is that people are dumb dangerous panicky animals



We saw it when the government here was giving out “baby bonuses”. She would be in labour and he was standing next to her telling her to hurry up so he could put that layby down on the new TV he wanted

 

I'll buy a few tools (they make me $) and put the rest into savings.

 

So, basically, people are too stupid to handle money? They have to go through the bureaucracy to get it, and if they find themselves in the middle of the greatest economic disaster in modern history, since the great depression, and slip through the cracks, that's okay because they wouldn't be good with money and they are just dumb dangerous animals???

That is one position I would never have believed I would hear from someone on the left. It's almost alien.
