Maybe what the MAGA minion should do once Trump is found guilty is to request to have him in the same prison as the majority of his Jan 6th followers. They'll protect him....and sing to him while he falls asleep;)

The act is not suddenly being made criminal — it is just adding an additional dimension. As shown in my cite — courts have allowed this.

They are not criminalizing something that was not previously a crime.

Like everything surrounding trump, if this passes it will be dragged through the courts and they will have the final say.

Not like any of you will respect that outcome rather

This I don't agree with at all. Convicting him doesn't erase the fact that he was the president, which is why he gets Secret Service protection even while not in office. I'm 100% in favor of holding the man responsible for what he's done, but there's no need to be stupid or vindictive about it. I understand that should Trump get convicted that it would be a new and no doubt cumbersome situation trying to arrange Secret Service protection while in jail but that's just the way it goes.

It doesn't have to "be made criminal". That has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

Other "felons" that weren't President of the United States of America?

The relativism fallacies are to the point of just ridiculous.

Felons noted because we still have innocent until proven guilty in this country. You saying it over and over doesn't make it true, even if that is the usual play.

Victory......all that winning, it's tiring. Good thing sleeping and drooling in court and hobbling out at day's end is so victorious.

lol if he’s not proven guilty then this is all moot anyway.
But yes IF he’s convicted he’ll be a felon and shouldn’t get any more protection than any other felon.

And if there is one you’ll just claim it’s some vast conspiracy anyway.

What closet? I think that the majority of taxpayers will be quite content to know that their money isn't being spent on guarding the life of a felon. He's a billionaire, right? Let him hire his own security.

WTF makes you think he'll ever do time? I mean, one can hope for accountability, but you seem so sure.

Damn. Nobody does melodrama like the right.

Nah. In real words, they don't see why tax payers ought to pay for any imprisoned felons to have personal guards. Whats the problem with that. If I was imprisoned, would you be happy to pay for my personal guards?

That's likely the very statute that their bill addresses.

In addition to loss of SS detail, a past president convicted of any felony should also not be honored with a Presidential Library at taxpayer expense, either. No loss there, since Trump is not a reader.

Yes, sure, you keep telling yourselves that, but try watching Russian TV. The American politicians that they frequently praise are the MAGA folks like Marge, Carlson, etc. not to mention their darling, Donald Trump.

Sorry, but the facts do not support your claim.

That's a good question. I don't think Democrats, or anyone else not in Trump's thrall, have any desire to see him made into a martyr. Evangelicals have already decided that he's their god's chosen one (which, to me, makes them decidedly un-Christian). Imagine their rage if someone killed him. They're likely to put his image on crosses in their churches, right alongside Jesus.

Personally, I want him to live long enough to see himself fade into the obscurity he so richly deserves. A couple of years in prison would also be fitting, imo.
