Democrats are 'undermining democracy' by challenging the results, right Democrat supporters?

    https://www.breitbart.com/2020-elec...s-try-to-overturn-two-house-elections-pelosi/

Hillary told Biden not to concede under any circumstances, but now that Trump is refusing to concede, he is 'undermining democracy.

Let me tell you this, Democracy is flawed. Majority rule can lead to some pretty awful stuff.

A Constitutional government, on the other hand, means that, until the law is changed by Constitutional process, the law stands, no matter what the democratic election results are. This preserves original, agreed upon roles of government, as well as preserving our inherent rights as human beings.

So, when Trump, or in this case these two Democrats, challenge the results of an election based on their interpretation of the law, it is not 'undermining democracy'.

I thought the voting machines were rigged.

Democrats always have an excuse for their own hypocritical behavior.

In 2016, Democrats demanded Trump accept the election results. Forced him to say it during the debate even. Then the second after they lost, Hillary called Trump an “illegitimate president”, loads of Congressmen never bothered showing up at the inauguration and the impeachment began on a completely fabricated Russian collusion hoax.

    Yes. The hypocrisy is thick!!

I would disagree with the House certifying anyone who did not receive a plurality of the votes.
Winning by 6 votes or 12 votes is still winning. There is a problem in the system if the House can disregard the winner.

Not exactly sure what this was supposed to mean? Are you now supporting the Trump actions because it is payback for Gore?

I had to go get a real news source to get some information, so pardon my delay...

    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/30/recounts-lawsuits-house-seats-vacant-441668

See, the difference between this and whatever TF Trump is doing is that these 2 races ARE close.

Once there has been an official recount of these 2 seats, and this level of difference requires a recount, the winner should be certified and seated.

    End of Story

Trump should concede because he clearly lost with zero chance of something outside of certification changing the results.

That’s not factual. He was not impeached because of a Russian collusion hoax.

Why do you keep going back to fake news again and again?

In Iowa the official recount did take place, the Republican won by 6 votes and the result was certified.

Now the Dem in the race instead of pursuing state-level legal options that she did have available chose instead to appeal to Pelosi to have the result overturned by her.

    Now you know.

LOL at calling Politico fake news over Breitbart... Good one...

Well, in Iowa, that race should be over.... In NY, they have a major mess on their hands...

You seem to believe that once a race is certified that it's completely over.... I'll remember that...

But I'm positive your news isn't in a Breitbart link, so you really should post links backing up your news...

    Here's one

Fair enough, in this case Politico wasn't fake news, it was you :). Here is what Politico article said and you "forgot"

The latest blow for Democrats came Monday, when Iowa officials certified Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks as the winner of her race after a recount found her leading Democrat Rita Hart

And yes, it should be over in Iowa but it isn't, the Democrat skipped the legal process available to her in Iowa and is appealing to the House (i.e. to Pelosi) to overturn Iowa election result.

It's a mess in NY indeed, it's being reviewed by a Judge (Democrat) but looks like the Democrat in the race is planning exactly the same trick of going to Pelosi if he loses.

How would anyone think that Pelosi has any power to do anything about an election in Iowa?

How difficult is it to read the link in the OP?

Under the Federal Contested Elections Act, the House can step in and certify a winner in close and contested races. The Democrats last did so in 1985, when the House Administration Committee declared Rep. Frank McCloskey (D-IN) the winner of a close race in which his Republican challenger, Richard McIntyre, was certified as the winner by state election authorities. Democrats used their House majority to seat McCloskey and Republicans walked out of the chamber in protest.

The Politico site wasn't fake news, it was old news, which is still more accurate than anything Breitbart will put out...

Here's a source with more information on what this candidate in Iowa is going for, which seems to be used quite frequently, to limited success...

At least it won't cost her 3 millions dollars to lose votes...

    SNIP
Hart is filing a petition with the House Administration Committee under a 1969 law that lays out procedures for contesting state election results. She plans to ask that ballots that were legally cast but not included in the initial canvass be considered in the recount, which is prohibited under Iowa law.

Most contested elections that have come before the House in the last century have been dismissed, according to CRS. From 1933 to 2009, the House considered 107 contested election cases. In one instance, it declared a vacancy, and in three cases, it seated the candidate who contested the results.

The most recent instance of the House reversing the initial outcome of an election was more than three decades ago in 1985 in a contest for what was known as Indiana’s “Bloody 8th.” After the 1984 elections, Hoosier State officials certified the 8th District results showing Republican Rick McIntyre had defeated Democratic incumbent Frank McCloskey by just 34 votes.

McCloskey contested the election, and the House, which was controlled by Democrats at the time, initially decided not to seat either candidate. The House Administration Committee assembled a task force to investigate, and conducted its own recount which resulted in a four-vote lead for McCloskey, who was then sworn into office.

How can ballots be legally cast but not counted in a canvass/recount??

A bipartisan board established which ballots were legally cast and which weren't.

If she disagreed with the decision she had plenty of opportunities to file a petition with local Iowa court

That she chose instead to let Pelosi decide which ballots in Iowa count and which ballots don't count tells you all you need to know in the veracity of her claim and intellectual honesty (or lack of thereof) of the democrats.

Pelosi is not on the House Administration Committee, so enough with that misdirection...

The reason she didn't file in Iowa is covered in my link... seems I'm not the only one guilty of that for which you charged me and others...

I don't trust Breitbart and refuse to give them any page views. Assuming that's true, though, the Iowa dem is an idiot who should suck it up and run again in two years rather than try to overturn the result like that.

Trump's potential win is within the confines of the Constitution. If you disagree, it's not my problem.

Yeah, that was my snap reaction as well, but congressional races are challenged in the House all the time, albeit with limited success...

I'm going to wait for the details of her "filing" with Congress before making my final judgement...

This link details many of the 107 races that were challenged between 1933 and 2009, many of them for very silly reasons and thus discarded...

So when the Electoral College votes, as proscribed by the Constitution, Trump and his supporters will stop crying about fraud and a "stolen election" ?

    Glad to hear it !
