The global downturn didn't really hit Denmark til this year. The govt there has found a way to get more money - a fat tax. It's on things like milk, butter and cheese - staples of poorer families. So it's a regressive tax too.
Denmark expects to gain about 186 million in REVENUE for it's treasury.
Denmark has about a 10% obesity problem.

America has about a third of obese Americans.

Will this be the next cash grab for govt in America?

Danes are NOT happy about this. Govt is an insatiable, bloated, FAT, beast.
It's govt that needs a diet, IMO.

WHEN WILL IT EVER BE ENOUGH? GOVT WANTS ALL YOUR MONEY.

Another nanny-state move. I'm sure the left will be drooling at the thought of handing over more power to the govt. In America, we're entering the big SALT talks... but instead of taxing our salt, they plan to set guidelines for food producers.

You know what they say, "He who controls the food supply, controls the people."

It will be enough when they collapse our system and government controls everything.

Well the tax on Liquor and Cigarettes worked so well at preventing abuse, why not add fatty foods?

They could care less about your health, they just want your money. Honestly is there anyone who really thinks this is about health???

Itll be a Mayonnaise Tax here in America...

Or since the gay lifestyle is twice as deadly as smoking cigarettes, maybe we should have a gay tax....

These are exactly the problems you run into when the government is responsible for healthcare....

Theyre gonna screw everyone they can in the name of cheap healthcare, the only problem is... It never gets cheaper, they just steal the money to hand to their relatives....

It already has, yep you guessed it, loony lib capital of California, San Francisco. I expect the entire state to adopt this fat tax soon. Hopefully come election time it will have the same revolting reception as Bank of America charging $5 a month to use your debit card. (*)(*)(*)(*)ing goofy liberals, they never cease to amaze me.

None of them are Americans, guess that why Europe is in such trouble. Once we are rid of our African-European president we will be right again in no time.

Trinnity good post and OP . [IMG]

This is , in my opinion , a classic example of 'give an inch , take a mile' concept of ever growing Gov't , and it's worldwide , Denmark , USA , cetra.

A 'Fat Tax' ,,, I guess a 'thin tax' is next , right ? :frustrated:

I personally believe that there should NOT be any sales tax at all for Food purchases , because we all require our daily bread / sustenance ,, not right to tax a necessary / needed requirement . NO food tax at all .. NADA .

However , if I may be allowed the courtesy of rebuttal to my own post ; - )

just today , in New York , in the East River , a helicopter carrying 5 people crashed into the river ... details still coming in , it's a hot story...

Emergency responders were on the scene within the span of 60 seconds , one minute , and they were there , effecting a Emergency / Rescue operation. Divers , para-medics , fire depts , police , EMS transport , maybe even Medical Helicopters to transport the seriously injured , even cranes to get the crashed helicopter out of the East River , and we've not even gotten to the Hospital yet ....

[IMG] My point is this : )

it costs a lot of money to have this type of coordinated emergency response , and almost every Dept / Person listed above is on the tax-payer dime ... one way or another ,,, one new tax or another , this may be where the money goes . just saying , ya know , just saying ..

[IMG] As someone that has paid a lifetime of taxes , you wonder how it all got plissed away , whose pockets got lined ? ya know ??? why else would someone spend 2 Mil of their own money for a job that pays 125K / Yr ? LOL.

But , having said that , I believe it's all about what we're , as taxpayers , decide to pay for ...

We DO have the say-so , ya know , in the USA , we can throw the bums out and elect someone else ...
