Despite Afghanistan withdrawal, Biden seeks to spend $3.6B more on reconstruction there next year

I fail to see the problem here. The budget was planned before the Talibans rapid takeover (the article refers to documents from June). Clearly the expectation was that the US would withdraw the military (for domestic political purposes, as intended by Trump and implemented by Biden) but continue to support the Afghan government and security forces (and they demonstrably needed support, albeit much better targeted).

The failings of the withdrawal (and the 20 years proceeding it!) stand, but there wasn't anything newly wrong with this budget proposal at the time it was written.

Truly. Watching these apes gun down ANA commandos and go door-to-door pulling people out of their houses and shooting them has dampened my good nature. And I'm pretty sure we have veterans who need more from us than they get. I'm preaching to the choir!

The government there no longer has any control, the Taliban is now their government. They don't like us. We owe them nothing and what we send won't get to the Afghan people.

You can hate. I never said that. I said it isn't productive. It usually just creates more hate. That's why gangs and terrorists do stupid stuff. It's a never-ending ball of hate being passed around.

It's why discrimination exists and is so prevalent. It's why people fight over political parties when it's beyond clear that it's not only a distraction to problem solving, but ridiculous because we are ALL AMERICANS. At the end of the day, we don't have like whoever is in the Oval Office but we are called to respect him or her and, above all else, respect our country and ourselves.

I cannot believe that Biden would spend money in Afghanistan to rebuild there. The Afghan should be responsible to rebuild or maybe the Taliban should as well. The Taliban should do the rebuilding or are they too lazy to do anything?

Yes, that happened when they were still putting up resistance. I think the elite commandos maybe fought till the end (like those guys who ran out of ammo) while the majority, the regular troops, just said "the hell with it".
