when i was little my mother would always go 'don't lie, cheat or steal because God is ALWAYS watching' and obviously at that age i was like 'okay, mommy i'll be good', but as i got older her 'God's always watching' excuse felt more like some dirty old man putting camera's in your house and watching you shower, or like she was describing a creepy branch of the NSA. and now im 19, and she still uses those excuses! this is probably why most young christians become atheist! because parents use God as more of a 'belt' and something to scare their kids with. p.s: people should be careful when they say 'god is always watching', because that could backfire with jokes like, 'well i guess he had a good time watching me masturbate', and 'don't you parents feel weird knowing some old guy is watching your kids sleep, RIGHT NOW?'
If so he wouldn't be in the minority would he? He's 19 so I would guess expressing his opinion or perspective is going to be a bit less reflective than someone older. Reading between the lines it's easy to see he's arguing that God is often used as a threat to achieve a moral standard that is possibly in-an-of-itself immoral and he's using his personal experience to support his position.

Think of the old fairytales collected by the brothers Grimm. Without a mean god to serve as an enforcer, boogeymen is what people have often used for the same purpose. Not that being bullied by these things should be a basis for belief or non-belief in their existence. Just go by what the facts tell you and try not to be biased.

And (Heb. 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do). With the last scripture, Paul didn't mean nudity ,he meant there's no way we can hide ourselves from God. And saying what your Mother said, won't scare ANY who satan has wrapped around his finger. These are those who live as the world does ,(1John 2:15,16 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world). Meaning those who wants to do things they know is against Jehovah God and Jesus. But it DOES help those who's trying to do the WILL of Jehovah God, Jesus Father. As Jesus said we have to do if we want to gain eternal life ,(Matt. 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven). It helps us if we want to try and follow in Jesus steps ,(Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me). Also it's not like him and Jesus is sitting up there actually staring down at people committing dirty acts. They just KNOW... what we are doing, WITHOUT having to ACTUALLY watch! And what seem funny now, to MANY, won't be if they live to see the end ,(Rev. 6:16,17 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?). peace[/I]
