I'm just curious, and I'm not even sure if this is the right category for this, but everyone knows how the IRS has been targeting the tea party and conservative groups but does anyone know if they checked or looked into OWS? I'm not even sure if they really qualify for inspection or are considered not for profit so I don't know if the IRS would actually have any reason to look into them but I seem to recall reading at one point that they were receiving donations and that they were tax exempt. Just curious if anyone knows anything about this.
Well the IRS only investigated groups seeking tax breaks. If the OWS never applied, then the IRS has no reason to be interested in them
I was once - 5 years ago - with an organisation thinking of going for a tax exemption. I am almost certain an organisation has to exist for a certain amount of time before it can even apply. I want to say 2 years but it might be even longer. So if my memory is right, the organisation is not even old enough to qualify
