So, perhaps you've heard by now that Disney is leaving Netflix to start their own streaming service.

Who goes for that??? It seems that everywhere you go someone's trying to make you pay for streaming their service.

How much is too much??? It seems to me that the path we are going down means that people are going to have hard choices about what services to subscribe to.

I don't even use streaming services. I tried out Hulu for a while but then they went from free to paid and I wasn't interested anymore.

Good move on Disney's part. They have such a wide array of content that it isn't really comparable to something like the CW cutting ties. Disney is fairly uniquely capable of launching its new service with its current content and its massive back catalog. It might also incentivize them to develop their own proprietary formats to clamp down on piracy.

Streaming services have done great for copyright. Now, more and more prefer paying for the films/services they wish to watch as it is a much faster way of getting your product and it is guaranteed to be in top quality. This is the future and pirating will die out.

If Disney want their own service, they can of course have it. More competition is always good.
