Democrats think they knows what unites Americans — the government — and they released a video at the Democratic National Convention making that argument today.

“We do believe you can use government in a good way,” the video says. “Government is the only thing that we all belong to. We’re part of different churches, different clubs, but we’re together as a part of our city or our county or our state — and our nation.”

That’s a very different message from what voters heard at the Republican National Convention from Clint Eastwood. “We own this country,” Eastwood said last week, adding that politicians are just the employees of the American people. “When someone isn’t doing the job, we’ve got to let [him] go,” he also said, in calling for Obama’s defeat this year.

The DNC released the video, coincidentally, as the government debt reached $16 trillion, thanks in large part to the $5.4 trillion that has been added to the debt since President Obama took office.

Since you don't belong, feel free to secede. Or, just leave. Don't let the door smack you in the arse, eh?

Is this going to turn to into another "We didn't build that"? Because it's just taking a quote out of context.

Now that conservatives are officially against Democracy, it makes running against them all the more easy.

That is by far the most un-american thing I've heard the Democrats say thus far.

The founding fathers didn't intend on there being a supreme leader.

The Democrats are showing their true colors here.

The GOVERNMENT is NOT the sum total of AMERICA! It is there on behalf of American's, we are not here on behalf of government. America is less free today thanks to government, not because we all agree it is a good thing, but because government has made it that way. The larger it becomes, the smaller we do.

In one sense you are correct. But if we go by name, they're the same age.

A country is a political body. Without the government there would be no country. A country is defined by borders which are put in place by the government.

When you are in another country you say I'm from The United States of America. You don't say I'm from the government of the United States of America. I do not belong to a government. I belong to a country.

No kidding. It's almost like they want Obama to lose in November. More proof that Democrats are anything but democratic.

We're talking about country here. Your source even says it.

In English, "American" was used especially for people in the British America, and came to be applied to citizens of the United States when the country was formed.[9] The Declaration of Independence refers to "[the] unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America" adopted by the "Representatives of the united States of America" on July 4, 1776.[10] The official name of the country was established on November 15, 1777, when the Second Continental Congress adopted the Articles of Confederation, the first of which says, "The Stile of this Confederacy shall be 'The United States of America'

This is true. Case in point, I've never met a Chinese person that I didn't like. It's their government that sucks. I've also met a few Iranians that weren't all fire-and-brimstone-Islamic like their government is.

Told you, we are all wards of the state. Government is how we make others pay for us, and do things we want others to do, who have all the power.

Nothing wrong with saying, Government is the solution, Ronald Reagan had it wrong.
