I have purchased over the years at yards sales and thrift shops oil lamps. Most of us have cooking oil, olive oil and so on in the kitchen and no need for special fuel. In a emergency you can fill the lamps with vegetable oil or olive oil and it will do in a pinch.

Having ugly candles that are a dime a dozen drom thrift stores stored for emergencies is priceless.

Now for the emergency tuna. If you purchase tuna in oil get a simple finish nail and hammer, use the nail to poke a hole in the center of the tuna can. Insert string or twine through the hole and into the tuna oil and let it soak in. Light the string like you do a candle.

You can even eat the tuna when finished. Post your tricks for lighting.

I own flameless candles and they do operate a long time with batteries.
