I had already begun to distrust 'television' as far back as the Vietnam War... and back then there was no internet, no 'tablets', and no netflix. But the old doctrine of "he who controls the narrative also can control the population" has been true since the dawn of time.... Usually, instead of wading out into this kind of topic over and over and over, I just suggest that people re-read George Orwell's masterpiece, "1984". It's all there... ALL of it. Funny, though -- when I was in high school (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth), "1984" was always taught in public schools. Now it's not. Gee... I wonder why that is? ... and in the United States, ignorance has never been stronger than it is today!
Ironically, a "Muslim" government would probably have many desirable elements of sensible Conservatism in it. But, so often, as we see in countries ruled by an Islamic theocracy, there is also a stifling, oppressive level of intolerance and 'religious'-inspired dogmatism there, too.
The main stream news media on television is worse than useless. They are nothing but agents for the Democrat Party.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I'll just say that I'm not a 'tool' of the smartphone -- sondern -- the smartphone is a tool of MINE! Daily, I sample the news represented by organizations as different as Sputnik, Newsmax, RT, Fox, usw., etc. And I use a handy website to 'gauge' whether a news source is liberal or conservative: https://www.allsides.com/media-bias
I cut the cord more than a decade ago. It had nothing to do with trust, I just find most of what's on tv to be crap.
There isn't much more I am willing to pay for TV than I am right now even if they threw in free everything packages.
If it comes from the MSM then because 90% of the MSM has a controlling interest owned by the big investment groups Blackrock and Vanguard, and they are big owners of weapons companies, they persuade the public to buy weapons, and the news is written to do just that. and consequently the news soon gets repetitive.
