Yes, in instances of egregious crimes (rape, murder) that are proven without a reasonable doubt. Have it go through a state court (jury) and then a federal court and after conviction in each they should be immediately given their final meal and executed as humanly as possible. No appeals for decades. But it must be a proven item.
So, I would be in favor of capital punishment if: a) All existing death penalty convictions are temporarily converted to LWOP. b) A re-examination of existing death-penalty convictions would convert them back to death row ONLY in cases where there was absolutely NO DOUBT and no dispute of guilt. c) All death penalty cases from this point forward can result in death row ONLY when there is absolutely NO DOUBT of guilt, established through direct evidence. d) Once guilt is positively established where no question can possibly be raised, the penalty is carried out immediately.
"Reasonable doubt" is a pretty low bar for taking someone's life. There should be NO doubt, no question, and no dispute... in my opinion.
Not with reasonable doubt — with no reasonable doubt. Which means even a hint of doubt would not allow the death penalty n Video evidence and forensics would be about the only way.
