Civilian firearm ownership undermines the legitimate power monopoly of the state. ...so sayeth the UN representative at 'The Great Gun Control Debate' in the UK in 2001. Basically, (according to the UN) the state has a legitimate power monopoly over YOU. And if your state squanders that monopoly and gets defeated by another state, that new state still has a legitimate power monopoly over YOU. YOU are subordinate to the state, regardless of which state that actually is. To defend yourself from another state is to undermine the legitimacy of your state, the other state, and all states. 'The state' can't be having that. And so you can't be having guns. Tis better for you to be mauled by a horde of ravenous [whatever the boogey man of the day is] than to undermine the concept of the state's authority over lowly and inconsequential you. Personally, I find that notion offensive, and its one of my great goals in life to help as many others find it offensive as well. I never thought it would be so hard to convince people that power monopolies are NEVER legitimate. But here we are, people demanding they be forced to turn their guns over to govts that they neither like nor trust.
