Not according to the Tax Policy Center: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/09/20/irs-data-show-most-millionaires-pay-taxes-at-higher-rate-than-middle-class/ Here is CNBC's version of the story: http://www.cnbc.com/id/44591639 Here is USA Today's version: http://www.usatoday.com/money/perfi/taxes/story/2011-09-20/buffett-tax-millionaires/50480226/1 Pick whichever story you prefer, in the end they all say the same thing. The rich already pay far more income tax than the middle class and poor, both in total numbers and in percentage of income. What is the justification for attempting to raise their taxes even further? More and more it seems an attempt to incite class warfare.
Buffett says his secretary pays more than he does....No she does not. He may pay less % but not in real money. Buffett: 8 MILLION Secretary: 18,000
Liberals don't care about fairness for the rich. They could care less if the rich are being treated fairly. If they feel that you won't be economically pinched "too badly" then that is all that matters. The liberal mantra is: "If you can afford to pay higher taxes, then you must." Democrats don't give a (*)(*)(*)(*) about poor people either. When I lived below federal poverty limit during the beginning of the crisis I still had to pay $300 in taxes because I had no children and therefore Democrats feel "I could afford it." because after all, you only really count as a human being once you have kids.
But resist, we much we must and we will much about that be committed. Al Sharpton, August 9, 2011
Who believed otherwise? A bunch of left wing cranks? Sure the mass gullibles of the left might actually believe the Obama suggestion of making sure millionaires pay as much in taxes as the middle class was something more than an attempt to get a rise out of some mental defectives (also known as the Democrat base), but the normal among us know otherwise. This bill is unnecessary because millionaires pay an average rate of twice that the middle class.
