Does Trump want to negotiate with Putin about Ukraine?

What do you find confusing about that? War begin. People who don't like fascist invasions against their alleys sent help. You act like this is beyond the realm of human comprehension. It doesn't take much more than two brain cells to rub together to figure that out, though.

 

@yardmeat Holding talks does not necessarily mean caving in. First, it finds out what might be possible. This war has not gone well for Russia, and so we should at least hold talks. If the Russians are unreasonable, we can always just walk away from the talks, and nothing is lost.

 

Trump has talked about outright giving Russia Ukrainian land. Yes. That's caving in. Whoever told you it wasn't was right there beside Trump begging to lick Putin's boots.

 

I wasn't very clear:

The claim Biden was making was nothing had been happening,
now, if that was true then why was it so important to send over
that 'aid' in mid 2021.

And why after 30 years of peace (according to Joe) did a war
suddenly break out just after the 'aid' had arrived?

 

That was indeed when Russian forces launched their open invasion (sorry, "Special Military Operation") but they'd already unofficially invaded when they used the political disruption following the Euromaiden protests to occupy Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk using unmarked Russia forces.

Russia had been building up it's forces on the border for many weeks and were clearly threatening invasion. Ukraine receiving US military support may have been the excuse for crossing the border, but you can't possible believe it was the reason.

 

You do understand Trump doesnt have the power to do that, right? Only Ukraine can do that. We can likely get them to the negotiating table, but they still decide what they agree to. Trump cant 'give Putin' anything.

 

When the US weapons makers want a war, and Blackrock which
owns a lot of media and profits from wars, then it's going to be
difficult to avoid a war.

And the media will think of some reasons for having a war and the
public will believe the dumb reasons and lots of people get killed
and lots of money gets made.

 

Even after the present stage of the war started in Feb 2022, within
weeks negotiations were underway and a treaty was agreed in
Turkey by representatives of Russia and Ukraine, but the US and
UK said 'no', and it got scrapped.

You might think the US and UK didn't have the authority to do that
but there were a couple of other factors.

The Neo Nazis wanted to kill Russians and Russian-speaking people
in Eastern and Southern Ukraine, and without the protection of the US
would have killed Zelenskyy, and might have done so any way and
therefore Zelenskyy needed to escape. And of course the US was
offering bribes.

You might recall Zelenskyy saying he didn't want a helicopter ride he
wanted bullets. It was his choice, influenced by the US and UK to
continue the war.
