Which is more important to you and why? Imagine a scenario where you are choosing between two presidential candidates, one has the same domestic policy views and opposite foreign policy views, and the other vice versa. Who would you choose? Also, what is your political orientation (choose the one that is closest..).
To me the question is, which do you want to fix more than the other: Picked domestic policy, plus that might lead to foreign policy change. Political proximity: libertarian.
If I had to choose between a socialist who wants to pull all of our troops back and a neolibertarian, I would pick the neolibertarian... so domestic policy.
I agree, with sound fiscal and monetary policies war financing would be more difficult because it would have to come from direct taxes instead of from the inflation tax.
I think you're saying that if we didn't have to finance wars we could help reel in our monetary mess? To that I would say that politicians are not for want of ways to spend our money.
Liberal, domestic policy. I want us to be less involved in foreign conflicts, but that means less than fixing things here.
I want to remove at least 75% of domestic entitlement programs. As for foreign policy I would like to draw down (scalpel) troops but not withdraw from any bases unless the leaders of said nation insist upon it or if the mission is complete. Then work on improving our military technology at slightly accelerated rate, if possible.
I'm Conservative and chose foreign policy. Domestic issues can actually be addressed domestically (through citizens and local gov.). Our foreign policy is important because it has such huge consequences, but average citizens can do little to influence foreign policy on their own... it requires a much larger voice and will.
I'm libertarian and voted domestic policy. We need to protect ourselves from other countries who would harm us, but leave them to make their own decisions just as we expect them to stay out of our affairs.
