With NK knocking at our door with war talk, the commander in tweet is apparently worried about.....the National Anthem. Isn't he supposed to uphold and defend the Constitution of the US? To me, this is a clear violation of his oath of office. Trump is a clueless fool.

Trump is a dunce and anyone that takes him seriously is equally so...

A huge 'Monday Night Football' boosted NFL ratings, despite Trump attacks

This is a blatant violation of the law.

    https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/227

    (a) Whoever, being a covered government person, with the intent to influence, solely on the basis of partisan political affiliation, an employment decision or employment practice of any private entity—
    (1)
takes or withholds, or offers or threatens to take or withhold, an official act, or
    (2)
influences, or offers or threatens to influence, the official act of another,
shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than 15 years, or both, and may be disqualified from holding any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.

    (b) In this section, the term “covered government person” means—
    (1)
    a Senator or Representative in, or a Delegate or Resident Commissioner to, the Congress;
    (2)
an employee of either House of Congress; or
    (3)
the President, Vice President, an employee of the United States Postal Service or the Postal Regulatory Commission, or any other executive branch employee (as such term is defined under
section 2105 of title 5, United States Code).

It's very clearly partisan. It's very clearly a call to force a change in a private, for profit corporation.

The president is a criminal thug who hates freedom. I had hopes he would be different. I liked some of his platform. I did not vote for him.

    And I am glad I didn't.

The Cowboys are the most popular team in the NFL and probably in all of American sports. That accounts for any alleged ratings increase. And maybe there was also the car wreck factor.

"Calls for" is a little vague, and you don't have a link. "Calls for the NFL to create a rule" as in he thinks they should have one (which they do)? Or "calls for the NFL to create a rule" as in he wants us to pass a law requiring them to have a rule? I find the latter problematic but not the former.

Heck, the last time Trump was involved in "making rules" for a football league, it didn't work out so well for the NFL - and I'm sure the league hasn't entirely forgotten, LOL......

During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking.

Should does not denote a requirement. Not in any court of law. If you want to make it a requirement, you need to say "must", "are required to," or "shall."

Too late, there already is one.

"The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. 'During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition... ...It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.'”

"should" is not a requirement, and "may" result in a fine is vague. The only requirement is that they "must" be on the sideline. That's it.

So we should quell free speech because we disagree with its motive or content........OK, got it.

Maybe we should ban guns in NFL stadiums and NASCAR events now........

Wait. Is this the same Donald Trump who was pissing all over Twitter that Barack Obama had bigger things to worry about than the name of a National League Football team? The same Donald Trump who is President and can't get a single bit of major legislation passed, and who is exchanging little kiddie insults with the head of North Korea? That Donald Trump?

The President of the United States should act like an adult. But the one we have doesn't.

Yes, which also means they 'could' be disciplined.

No. You need to read it again. The only thing they are required to do is be present at the flag ceremony, nothing else. They could be disciplined for hiding in the locker room, but not for kneeling.

If their bosses so choose. Not your choice. Not my choice. Not the President's choice.

I remember that. One of Trump's MANY failed ventures. He actually thought his ridiculous USFL was going to challenge the NFL. It limped into oblivion, and Trump was the laughing stock of the sports world.

They 'could' be disciplined for kneeling. I don't think you understand that the way it's written is just as clear as my answer.

Duh! Of course you can. And we can all ridicule the President's unwanted and unwelcomed opinion. As has been the case the last few days.

I think it's dumb of him to get involved, but I don't see how this law applies. The test is whether 'official acts' are implicated.

Welcomed by the majority of Americans if you believe the polls.
