So, if Humpty is tried in Miami before Judge Cannon in front of a Jury drawn from Miami and the Jury convicts Humpty...are you going to say the Judge and Jury were corrupt in their conduct of the Trial and deliberations?

By the way, what do you reckon about anyone who tells you that, objectively, their own work is objective? Like, if I mark my own homework, am I being 'objective?'

So Biden's running the prosecution from the White House is he?

The thing is Pense has already received notification that he will not be prosecuted for the documents found in his indirect home possession and he is of course a Republican politician who has nominated for 2024 election. (So naturally the first thing a 'corrupt' Democrat incumbent is going to do is clear him on any criminal charges. Meanwhile Biden himself is still waiting for a decision. Biden's obviously in no rush to clear himself!

There are however three things above all else that separate both Pence's and Biden's situations from Trumps (and of course from McArthy' fantasy universe where the President of the United States directly controls the course of DoJ criminal prosecutions).

    1) The first is the sheer amount of documentation involved, Trump was found in possession of 11 thousand documents, Biden had about 30, none of which were in his direct possession at the time and Pence had what. 12 or so?

    2) Both Biden and Pence co-operated with attempts to recover the documents in question from day one. Trump on the other hand denied having the documents even when records showed those same documents were moved out of the White House at his direction, attempted to conceal the locations where those documents were stored from authorities when requested to return them and had documents marked top secret in his personal office.

    3) Lastly although repeatedly insisting that he had personally 'declassified' all the documents concerned Trump has not once offered any proof that this was in fact the case nor have any of is lawyers ever presented claims to this effect in any court proceedings. Something which if done would have stopped the DoJ investigation in it's tracks!

But to the MAGA crowd? All three cases are identicle!

    Sure they are....

I wouldn’t trust you to be objective if that’s what you’re asking.

Well there's proof! Good job! From CNN no less. Well count me as impressed!

Not with the story mind you. That anybody could offer that up as proof of anything. Other than that it's just a waste of forum space.

Most of the Republicans who've thus far responded are not talking about Pence, nor even really about documents. The buzzword is that this is "weaponization" of the government, and President Biden taking out his competition. Not only House members, but Senators Josh Hawley, J.D. Vance, & so called moderate, Tim Scott, have followed this line, not to mention Gov. Ron DeSantis. Senate Republican leadership has yet to comment. The only one who's commented w/out condemning the indictment, is Chris Christie.

We won't find out the charges for a bit, because they've been sealed. But NBC's sources are saying that, among those 7 charges, are not just obstruction, and making false statements, but violation of the Espionage Act. If they get a conviction on this charge-- which I'd not been expecting them to bring-- then the punishment will not just be house arrest (which I was thinking would be the most likely result, from obstruction charges). A "guilty" verdict, on the Espionage Act charge, would have to be the end of Trump's Presidential bid.

There is little of substance to be said until the actual trial occurs and a verdict is rendered, goes through all of the steps needed to reach the Supreme Court of the United States of America, and is adjudicated by those worthies. This isn't to say that there won't be lots of palaver from the usual sources.

This poor old country mouse does not expect to live to the end of the process. It will, however, keep a number of lawyers off the welfare rolls. That's something we can applaud.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

It would be pathetic if Trump were in jail and there were still enough people willing to vote for him that he won.

You are certainly creating enough excuses to justify Trump's corruption.

I don't like Trump but he's a whole lot better President than any Democrat. When we choose a President we don't look for Mr. Congeniality we look for leadership. Biden is an abject failure.

Bbbbbbbbbut Biden ? That's all you got ? I thought this thread was about the indictment of the Orange Stain ?

Besides, what more do you want ? He got indicted in Miami, where the jury pool contains enough mindless Maga types who wouldn't convict him of shooting someone in the face on Park Ave at high noon even if it was caught on video. You have the Speaker of the House and other mindless Maga type , like MTG , already bleating what a horrible thing this is.

So much for right wingers respecting the rule of law. Personally, I think they should have charged him in DC.

The stats were in the news. Where have you been?

My point still stands that a vast amount of Americans disagree with the statement I was addressing. In order for his point to stand he would have to show where most Americans agree with him, but even if he did it would fall under the umbrella of an appeal to a popularity fallacy.
