I didn't say I liked him, but I do agree with him on the trade issue, especially with China. That is, to me, the main thing that has driven this country to where it is today. The issue must be confronted directly and he's the only one doing so.

Just for the record, I'm a Ron Paul supporter. I was just asking questions on what people thought. Besides, who are you to tell me not to vote?

    Probably nobody...

Trump needs to elaborate. He just keeps repeating himself about taxing them 25%, but 41% is the "real number" (lol where the (*)(*)(*)(*) does he get these numbers from?). Trump is just such a snakeoil salesman type and while he's good at riling up Americans against people who take advantage of us, that's his only purpose as far as geopolitics are concerned. If Trump wants to help out America he will donate millions or even billions to the Republican presidential nominee.

I think the 'real number' he refers to is the in the purposeful devaluation of China's currency to keep prices low. I do know that Bill Clinton signed a deal allowing for a higher tariff on American imports to China vs their exports to us. We have lost millions of jobs and all the revenue that goes with that as a result.

There was a China only provision attached to its membership in the WTO which allowed for countries to limit Chinese imports if they were hurting that country's economy. That provision was to last for 12 years. Why we didn't use that tool is beyond me and reeks of traitorous corruption. That goes beyond Clinton and includes Bush and Obama.

"Under a China-specific safeguard mechanism, the United States and other WTO members can restrain increasing imports from China that disrupt their markets for 12 years."

    From this link.... http://www.chinese-culture.net/html/china_wto.html

I'll say this about Trump. I don't really like him except for his trade views. He seems to like both Bachmann and Palin, which is strange to me. He's arrogant and a self-promoter. That being said, I think the issue of trade needs to be front and center in the Republican debates and this issue needs to carry forward to the party platform.

I think you misunderstood my intent in starting this thread. I hope I have explained myself a little better. I just would like to see the trade issue, especially concerning China and NAFTA, explored more and Trump is the only one giving voice to that directly.

I mean it seems like such an easy thing to do maybe we haven't done it already because there would be unintended consequences.

Yeah, it's really one of those 'duh' moments. Why has the US allowed itself to be financially raped by China when it could have been easily prevented, even while still abiding by WTO provisions? On this, I'm a suspicious sort and think our inaction resulted in an intended consequence that the public is not privy to. Thus my statement about 'traitorous corruption'.
